Deed 373 Acres
Know all men by these presents that John Roberts of the County of Duplin and State of
North Carolina for and inconsideration of the sum of six hundred & thirty nine dollars
forty four cents to me in hand paid by John Stroud of the County and State aforesaid
have this day Bargained and sold unto the said John Stroud one certain tract of land
lying on the south isde of the great Branch begining at the Run of said Branch on Jason
Smiths line and runs along said line so 24 Et 50 pole to a stump then so 50 Wt 38 pole
to the Run of a Branch then up there of the Branch Run about so 32 Et 14 pole to a pine
then No 47 Et 212 pole to a sweet gum then No 44 Et 131 pole to a pine then No 44 Wt
66 pole to a stake then No 43 pole to a stake or gum thenEt 74 pole to the RUn of the
Rudy Branch then down the Run to the mouth at a drain then up the drain about No 33 Et
30 pole then along the old line No 33 Et 72 pole to the head of drain then down the
drain about 30 pole to a gum then Wt 54 pole to a stump then No 40 pole to the Run of
the Great Branch then down the Run to the Begining including 373 acres more of less to
gether with all the priviledges afetrence thereunto belonging and I the said John Roberts
for myself my heirs and assigns do warrant & defend the said Land and premises to the
said John Stroud his heirs and assigns firmly by these presents against the lawful claim
of any person or persons in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and afixed my
seal this the 8th day of February 1839
