(Transcribed by Joan S Dunn) Deed Book E Page 104, 105, & 106 John Best To Ben Best Deed 110 acres This Indenture made the first day of June in the twelth year of American Independence and in the year of our Lord Christ one thousand seven hundred and Eight Eight Between John Best of the State of North Carolina and County Duplin of the one part and Benjamin Best of the same place of the other part witnesseth that the said John Best for Divers good causes and considerations him thereunto Moving but more especially for the Valuable consideration of The Sum of Twenty five pounds courent money of the State aforesaid to him in hand well & truly paid or secured to be paid by Benjamin Best aforesaid before the ensealing and Delivery of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath by these presents granted bargained sold assigned and set over to the said Benjamin Best his heir and assigns for ever one certain tract or parcel of Land situate lying and being in Duplin County aforesaid on the North side of the Grove Swamp Begining at a Maple William Way's Corner where the Run of the Wolfe Branch Emties into the Grove Creek thence up the Run of Wolf Branch as it meanders with William Boyls Line about sixty eight poses to the mouth of a small Branch thence up the Run of said Branch th several courses thereof about 90 poles to a Maple on a Line Called Boyles line thence along said line and John Phillips Line 20 Et 200 poles to a Maple at the Run of the Grove Creek thence up the Grove Creek as it meanders with David Middletons line to the Begining containing in the whole one hundred and Ten acres be the same more of less to have and to hold the aforesaid Land & premises with all the appertainances to the same belonging or in anywise appurtaining to him the said Benjamin Best his heirs and assigns forever free from all incumberances whatever given granted or done by him the said John Best and the said John Best the aforesaid Land and premises to him the said Benjamin Best shall and will warrant and forever defend to him his heirs and assigns from and against him the said John Best his heirs and assigs as also from and against the just and Lawful claim of all and every other person or persons whatever who may hereafter Laying Lawful Claim to the same In witness whereof the said John Best hath hereunto set his hand and seal the Date above written. Signed sealed and delivered John Best In the presence of us John Neall William Boyet State of No. Carolina Duplin County January Term 1791 Then was the within Deed proved in open Court by the oath of William Boyet and ordered to be registered.
