John Best Senr. To Absalom Best Deed 3 January 1791

To Absalom Best Deed 75 acres This Indenture made this 3rd day of January in the year of our Lord Christ one thousand seven hundred and ninety one, Between John Best Senor. Of the County of Duplin and State of No. Carolina Planter of the one part and Absalom Best of the same County and State aforesaid Planter of the other part. Witness that the said John Best Senior for and in Consideration of the sum of seventy five pounds specie unto him in hand paid by the said Absalom Best before the Signing Sealing and Delivering of these presents the Receipt whereof I do hereby acknowledge myself fully satisfied contented and paid and of Every part and parcel thereof and I the said John Best Senr. have given granted Bargained and Sold and confirmed unto him the said Absalom Best a certain Tract or parcel of Land containing seventy five acres more or less lying and being in the County and State aforesaid it being part of patten that the said John Best Bought of Henry McCulloh lying on the Mirey Branch which Land is Butted and bounded as follows Beginning at a maple in the Edge Boiling Spring Branch on the first line of said patten and Runs with that line to a small pine thence So. 65 Wt. a direct course to the same Branch near the head thence with the various courses of said Branch to the Beginning containing seventy five be the same more or less the said Absalom Best. To have and to hold the aforesaid Land and premises thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining to the only proper use benefit and Behoofe of him the said Absalom Best his heirs and assigns forever Free and Clear from all Incumbrances of any kind whatsoever exepting my lifetime which I the said John Best am to have free privilege to Clear Cultivate hunt & said stock of any kind during my life and Furthermore I the said John Best do for myself my heirs Executors Administrators or assigns warrant and forever Defend the aforesaid Land unto the said Absalom Best his heirs and assigns forever with and Singular the appurtainances to the same belonging or in any wise appertaining according to the True Intent and Meaning of these presents whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal the day and Date above written. Signed Sealed and Delivered In the presence of John Best Thomas Shelton Francis William State of No. Carolina Duplin County January Term 1792 Then was the within Deed proved in open Court by the oath of Thomas Shelton and ordered to be Registered.
