John Beck To Stephen Beck Deed 15 July 1786

(Transcribed by Joan S Dunn) Deed Book 1 A Page 271, & 272 John Beck To Stephen Beck Deed for 278 acres lands This indenture made this fifteenth day of July in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and eighty six by and between John Beck Senr. of the State of No. Carolina and County of Duplin of the one part & Stephen Beck of the State & County aforesaid of the other part. Witnesseth that the said John Beck for and in consideration of the sum of two hundred pounds to him in hand paid before the signing of these presents, the receipt whereof he doth hereby acknowledge, hath given granted and sold and by these presents doth give grant bargain & sell alienate enfeoff & confirm unto him the said Stephen Beck and to his heirs executors administrators & assigns forever, one certain tract or parcel of land lying in the State & County aforesaid & on the South side of Goshen Swamp & the South side of long branch. Begining at a pine and runs thence North 59 pole to a white oak standing on Long Branch in said John Beck's plantation, thence So. 66 Et. 57 pole to a white oak thence No. 9 East 8 poles to a poplar standing in the edge of the run of Long Branch, thence down meanders of said Branch North 61 Et. 126 pole to the fork, of Long Branch & Bady Branch, thence So. 15 Wt. 112 pole to a black oak by the main road said Beck's corner & Henry McCulloch's corner, thence Et. 114 pole to a pine along said Beck's line, thence So. 66 Et. 74 pole to a samll hickory Beck's other corner, thence along his other line SO. 40 Wt. 60 pole to a stake, thence No. 65 Wt. 60 pole to a white oak, thence So. 63 Wt. 224 pole to a small black oak near the head of Camp branch, thence to the begining containing two hundred & seventy eight acres be the same more or less. To have & to hold the said tract or parcel of land and premises with all & singular the priviledges & appurtenances thereunto belonging or in any wise belonging to him the said Stephen Beck his heirs & assigns to the only proper use and behoofe of him the said Stephen Beck his heirs and assigns forever, & to & for no other use intended or proposed whatsoever, and he the said John Beck his heirs executors administrators doth covenant & agree to & with him the said Stephen Beck his heirs & assigns, that he the said Stephen Beck his heirs Exrs. & assigns shall & may from time to time & at all times forever hereafter freely peacebly & quietly hold use occupie possess & enjoy the said tract of land & premises without any manner of lett, molestation or interuption of him the said John Beck his heirs executors administrators & he the said John Beck & his heirs the above sold land with its appurtenances unto the said Stephen Beck his heirs & assigns forever, shall and will by these presents warrent & forever defend. In witness whereof he the said John Beck hath hereunto set his hand & fixed his seal the day & year above written.
