John Ballard To Jesse Gregory
Deed of Gift for sundry acrticles
To all people unto whom this present writing shall come, John Ballard of the
State of No. Carolina & County of Onslow, planter, send greeting. Know ye that I the
said John Ballard for divers good causes & valuable consideration me hereunto moving,
have given granted & by these presents do give grant & confirm unto Mr. Jesse Gregory
of the above mentioned State & County, taylor, & one feather bead & furniture & one chest
one pot one kettle & one skillet & one spice mortar & pestol with all my working carpenter
tools, likewise three cows & calves & barren cows & one three year old Heifer this spring,
& all other any substance that I am possessed with at present. In whose hands custody
possession or keeping soever the same articles as above mentioned are or can be found.
To have and to hold all and singular the said goods chattles & household stuff whatsoever
of me the said John Ballard unto the said Jesse Gregory his executors adms. & assigns from
henceforth. To his and their own proper use and uses thereof & therewith to do order and
dispose at his or their will & pleasure, as if their own proper goods and chattels freely &
peacible without any manner of lett trouble or denial of me the said John Ballard or any
other person or persons whatsoever, of all which articles I the said John Ballard have put
the said Jesse Gregory in full and peacible possession by virtue hereof. In witness whereof
the said John Ballard have hereunto set my hand and seal the 19th of September 1787.

Then was the within and proved in open Court by the oath of Alexander Neilson & ordered
to be registered.
