(Transcribed by Joan S Dunn) Deed Book 1 A Page 414, & 415 Joel Wilder To Jesse Brown Deed for 120 acres lands This indenture made this twenty fifty day of October one thousand seven hundred and eighty six, Between Joel Wilder of the County of Duplin & State of No. Carolina of the one part, & Jesse Brown of the same province & County aforesaid of the other part. Witnesseth, that the said Joel Wilder for and inconsideration of the sum of twenty four pounds specie to him in hand paid at or before the ensealing & delivery hereof, the receipt whereof he doth acknowledge and himself to be fully satisfied & contented, and thereof and therefrom doth acquit, the said Jesse Brown his heirs executors admns. & by these presents for himself his heirs executors and administrators hath and doth fully freely and absolutely bargain sell enfeoffe convey & forever confirm unto the said Jesse Brown his heirs and assigns, one certain tract or parcel of land containing one hundred and twenty acres be the same more or less, lying in Duplin County on a branch of Moody Creek called Stephen's swamp, being part of a survey of land granted to Joshua Lee for one hundred & eighty acres, by a pattent bearing date 1764, the said one hundred & twenty acres being bounded as follows. Begining at the mouth of a Branch called Jacobs Branch (a dividing line) thence up the branch to the patent line, thence Wt. 240 pole to a pine, thence So. 15 Et. 120 pole to a pine, thence a direct line to the bagining. To have and to hold the said hundred and twenty acres of land & premises, with the appurtenances unto the said Jesse Brown his heirs and assigns forever, and I the said Joel Wilder my heris and assigns do convey the above said land unto Jesse Brown his heirs and assigns forever, against the lawfull claim of any person or persons whatever. I do warrant and forever defend the said bargained premiseds unto the said Jesse Brown his heirs and assigns forever. In witness, whereof I have hereunto set my hand & fixed my seal the day and date first above written. Joel Wilder Signed sealed & delivered in the presence of Wm. Farrior Mary Farrior State of No. Carolina Duplin County July Term 1787. Then was the within deed proved in open Court by the oath of William Farrior & ordered to be registered. Test W. Dickson, C.
