(Transcribed by Joan S Dunn) Deed Book E Page 340, 341, & 342 Joel Wilders To Jesse Brown Deed 360 acres of Land This Indenture made this sixteenth day of July in the year one thousand seven hundred and ninety one Between Joel Wilder of the State of No. Carolina and County of Onslow, of the one part, and Jesse Brown of the State aforesaid and County of Duplin of the other part. Witnesseth, that I the said Joel Wilder, for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred and fifty pounds specie, to me in hand paid by the said Brown, a receipt thereof have granted bargained sold enfeofed conveyed and confirmed unto the said Brown his heirs and assigns forever a certain Tract or parcel of Land situate in the County of Duplin on Muddy Creek, containing by estimation Three hundred and sixty acres, be the same more or less, butted and bounded as follows (Viz) fifty acres granted by Paten to John Brown, the twenty third day of May 1757, lying on Stevens swamp a Branch of Muddy Creek Begining at a sweet gum on the East side of said Swamp and runing So. 85 Et. 90 poles to a Lightwood Stake, thence No. 5 Et. 90 poles to a maple in said swamp, thence No. 85 Wt. 90 poles to a pine, thence to the first station with sixty acres being part of a Paten granted to Joshua Lee, the second of November 1764 for one hundred and Eighty acres, lying on Stevens swamp, the said sixty acres Begins at the mouth of Jacobs Branch, and runs up the same to the Back line, thence with back line No. 75 Et. to a pine the Paten corner, thence So. 15 Et. 120 poles to a white oak thence to the first station with one hundred acres Patened by the said Joel Wilder, the 20th of May 1773, lying in the fork of Steven Swamp, Begining at a gum in Stevens Branch John Browns corner, and runs along his line So. 5 Wt. 90 poles to a Lightwood stake his corner, thence along his other line So. 85 Wt. 110 poles to a Poplar on said Branch; thence down said Branch So. 50 Wt. 48 po to a Chesnut oake in Muddy Creek, thence up the Creek 160 poles to an ashe, thence No. 12 Et. 120 poles to an oake thence up the Branch to the Begining with one hundred and fifty acres Patetened by Joel Wilder the 21st of September 1785. Begining at an ashe, in the Edge of Muddy Creek, and runs So. 37 Et. 120 poles to an ashe on the Edge of the Run of said Swamp then No. 12 Et. 200 poles to a pine then No. 87 Wt. 120 poles across Stevens swamp to a pine then to the Begining. To have and to hold the aforesaid three hundred and sixty acres of Land and premises, unto him the said Jesse Brown, Free and clear, and I the said Joel Wilder, my heirs, Executors, and admrs. doth by these presents warrant and Defend the said three hundred and sixty acres of Land and premise from the Lawfull claim of any person whatsoever, to him the said Jesse Brown his heirs, Executors admrs. and assigns forever shall and may from time to time, and at all times forever hereafter, Peaceably, quietly, have, hold, use occupy, possess and enjoy the free bargained premises and appurtainances, free and clear from lett sute Dowerry Judgement or any other incumbrance what nature or kind soever, the Tax that may hereafter become due only Excepted. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the day and year above written.
