Thomas Carlton } This Indenture made the Twenty
first day of January in the Eighteenth year
American independence and in the year of our Lord Christ
one thousand seven hundred and Ninety four Between
Job Rogers Poley Rogers James Rogers and Nicholas Rogers
all of the State of No Carolina and County of Duplin of
the one part and Thomas Carlton of the same place and
of the other part WITNESSETH That the said Job Rogers Poley
Rogers James Rogers and Nicholas Rogers for in and Consider
ation of the sum of fifteen pounds Current money of the
State aforesaid to them in hand well and truly paid
or found to be paid by Thomas Carlton aforesaid before
the Ensealing and Delivery of these presents the test whereof
is hereby acknowledged Hold by these presents granted
Bargained sale assigned and set over to the said Thomas
Carlton his heirs and assigns forever one Certain Track
Lot or parcel of lands situate lying and being in Duplin
County aforesaid and as the domain of Beasley Mill swamp
Being the Southeast end of a survey of one hundred acres
patented by James Rogers late of Duplin County Dead----
joining his own and Alex Porters lines Beginning at a white oak
said Carltons Course of 150 acres patent by Tho Johnston in
the edge of the swamp thence that line No 155 poles to a
pine thence his other line No 19 Et 32 poles to a red oak
thereof his corner of a survey pat’ by Charles Oakland thence
Carltons line No 70 Et 16 poles to a gum and pine thence
Peter Carltons line So 70 Et 157 poles to a stake thence
So about 20 poles to a pine paten corner thence So 67 Wt
144 poles to a Blackjack Porters Corner thence his line So 26
Wt 100 poles thence to the beginning Containing in the whole
Eighty acres be the same more or less the Patent bearing
Date the 20th Day of December 1791

To have and to hold the aforesaid eighty acres of
Land with privileges and advantages thereto belonging as
in every wise appertaining to him the said Thomas Carlton
his heirs and assigns forever and the said Job Rogers
Poley Rogers James Rogers and Nicholas Rogers the aforesaid
land and premises shall and will warrant and forever defend
to him the said Thomas Carlton his heirs and assigns forever
from and against him the said Job Rogers Poley Rogers
James Rogers and Nicholas Rogers and their heirs and assigns
forever and also from against the Just and lawful Claim
of all and every other person or persons whatsoever claim
by from or under them or may of them in witness whereof
the said Job Rogers Poley Rogers James Rogers and Nicholas
Rogers have hereunto set these hands and seals the date above
written signed Sealed and Delivered
