Joab Padget To Isaac Hunter
Deed for 212 acres lands
This indenture made this twenty ninth day of December and in the seventh year of our
Independence, and in the year of our Lord Christ, one thousand seven hundred and eighty three,
between Joab Padget, and of the State of No. Carolina & County of Duplin of the one part, and
Isaac Hunter of the same place on the other part. Witnesseth that the said Joab Padget for
and in consideration of the sum of ten pounds specie money, the receipt whereof he doth hereby
acknowledge himself therewith to be fully satisfied contented and paid, and of every part and
parcel thereof, doth hereby exonerate acquit and discharge the said Isaac Hunter his heirs
executors administrators forever by these presents, have given granted conveyed confirmed
assigned and set over, and by these presents for himself his heirs executors and administrators,
doth give grant convey confirm assign and forever all that piece or parcel of land, situate
lying and being in the State of No. Carolina & County of Duplin on the north side of the grove
swamp. Begining at a red oak James Pearsall's corner, thence So. 4 Et. 38 pole to a red oak
said Isaac Hunter's own corner, thence as his other line So. 50 Wt. 74 pole to white oak his
corner, thence as his other line So. 70 Wt. 102 pole to a gum Nicholas Hunter's corner in
Horsepen Branch, thence up the Branch No. 11 Wt. 95 pole to a bay in the branch his corner,
thence as his other line No. 86 Wt. 112 pole to a pine Samuel Carr's corner, thence as his
line No. 20 Wt. 140 pole to a white oak Joab Padget's corner, thence So. 80 Et. 76 pole to a
white oak in Horsepen Branch, thence down the Branch So. 48 Et. 120 pole to a water oak in the
branch, thence No.79 Et. 160 pole to a gum in Long Branch, thence to the begining and containing
in the whole two hundred and twelve acres, being part of a tract of five hundred acres of land
granted to Joab Padget, be the same more or less. To have and to hold to him the said Isac
Hunter his heirs and assigns, the said hereby granted land and premises, with all and every
appurtenance thereon or thereunto in any wise belinging to him the said Isaac Hunter his heirs
and assigns in as full and ample manner as he the said Joab Padget by his paten for the same
could or might enjoy, and that free and clear exonerated acquited & discharged off and from all
and all manner of incumbrances whatsoever, except the yearly rents as they shall become due from
the date hereof, and the said Joab Padget doth hereby for himself his heirs executors and
administrators covenant and agree to and with the said Isaac Hunter his heirs and assigns to
keep harmless and indemnified him the said Isaac Hunter his heirs and assigns forever, from and
against the just and lawfull clames & demands of all persons claiming or to claim by from or
under him or them or any ot them. In witness whereof the said Joab Padget hath hereunto set
his hand and fixed his seal the day & date first above written.
