James Sullivan to James Sullivan Jr. 250 Acres
State of North Carolina Duplin County
This indenture made this 6th day of November in the year of our Lord 1847 between James
Sullivan Sr. of one part and his son James Sullivan Jr. of the same county and state of the
other part witnesses that for the natural love and affection I have and bear unto my son
James Sullivan Jr. and for other good causes and considerations and notions have given
and granted by these presents do give and grant unto James Sullivan Junior the following
specified parcel or tract of land situated lying and being in county and state aforesaid
waving the use and privilege of the land. The mouth of Wolf scrape branch and the fork
field between the Wolf scrape and Poly Bridge Branch to the cross fence that runs across
the field from Wolf scrape to Poly Bridge which land is bounded as follows: Beginning at
Joseph Whitfield’s upper corner on the run of Poly Bridge Branch and runs along his line
N 140 poles to a pine his corner thence with his other line W. 79 poles to a pine his other
corner thence at his other line then S. 50 W. 20 poles to a pine his corner thence along
his line S 65 W. 28 poles to a pine his corner then south 35 poles to the big ditch S.W.
60 poles to the mouth of the Green Branch then up the run of said Green Branch as it
meanders 141 poles to a small pine on the run of said branch on Sam Sullivan’s line
thence along his line to a Poplar in the run of Sodd’s Branch then down the run of Sodd’s
branch as it meanders to the Poly Bridge Branch then down the run of said branch to the
beginning containing 253 acres to have and to hold the afore bargained land and premises
free and clear from my heirs Exec. Assigns and Admin only as before reserved the 2 acres
I have Hither to fore deeded away for the meeting house which the plan hereunto annexed
will represent to him the said James Sullivan Jr. his heirs, exec, admin, and assigns forever
of which said land I the said James Sullivan Sr. do warrant and forever defend.
