James Sullivan to John Barrow and his successors

State of North Carolina Duplin County

This indenture made this 17th day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand eight 
hundred and forty six between James Sullivan of the county and state aforesaid of the 
one part and John barrow Pastor of the Freewill Baptist Church at the lay meeting in 
said county of the other part witnesses that for and in consideration of the said church 
have given, granted, bargained and sold and by these presents do give grant bargain 
and sell and convey the following  tract or parcel of land for the purpose of building a 
meeting house upon for the use of said church which house when built shall be free 
for any denomination to occupy or preach in only at the regular and appointed meetings 
of the Freewill Baptist Church which land is situated lying and being in said county and 
state less than one half mile of where log house now stands bounded as follows to wit, 
beginning at a black gum on the run of the Green Branch So.80 E. to a pine then No.
10 poles Wt.10 poles to a pine then No.80 Wt. 20 poles to a black gum on the run of 
said Green Branch then on up the run of said branch as it meanders to the beginning 
containing 2 acres, to have and to hold the aforesaid bargained land and premises to 
him the said John Barrow Pastor and minister aforesaid and his successors and for 
the use of the church aforesaid forever and the said James Sullivan doth for his part 
bind and pledge himself his heirs Exec. Admins or assigns to warrant secure and 
forever defend the aforesaid bargained land and premises for the use aforesaid in 
witness whereof the said James Sullivan have hereunto set his hand and seal on the 
date written above.
