(Transcribed by Joan S Dunn) Deed Book 1 A Page 310, 311, & 312 Jesse Register To Shadrack Stallins Deed for 123 acres lands This indenture made this twenty fourth day of February in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and eighty six, and in the tenth year of Independence. Between Jesse Register of the County of Johnston & State of North Carolina of the one part and Shadrack Stallins of the same State & County of Duplin of the other part witnesseth, that the said Jesse Register for divers good causes and consideration, but more especially for and in consideration of the sum of thirty pounds specie to him in hand paid or secured to be paid before the ensealing and delivery hereof, the receipt whereof he doth acknowledge & himself therewith to be fully satisfied & contented and thereof & therefrom doth acquit the said Shadrack Stallings his heirs executors administrators and assigns, hath bargained sold enforsed & confirmed and hath by these presents for himself his heris executors and administrators hath & doth fulyy freely & absolutely bargain sell enfeoffe convey & forever confirm unto the said Shadrack Stallings his heirs & assigns one certain tract or parcel of land containing by estimation one hundred & twenty three acres be the same more or less, situate lying & being in the County of Duplin on the east side of Farises Creek. Begining at a maple on the creek, thence east 98 pole to a pine Edward Dickson's corner, thence along another line south one hundred & twenty poles to a pine, thence No. 70 Et. 99 poles to a pine stump, thence North 168 pole to a pine, thence So. 70 Wt. 220 pole to a gum in the creek, thence down the creek to the begining. To have and to hold the said one hundred & twenty three acres of land and premises with their appurtenances unto the said Shadrack Stalling his heirs & assigns forever, in as full and ample manner to all intents & purposes as he the said Jesse Register did might or could have held the same before the making hereof, and the said Jesse Register doth hereby promise and engage for himself his heirs executors and administrator that at the time of sealing & delivery hereof, that he the said Jesse Register is & stands seized of the said land and premises of an indefeizable estate of inheritance in fee simple and hath in himself good right full power & lawfull authority to grant bargain sell convey and forever confirm the said land premises & every part and parcel thereof with their & every of their appurtenances unto the said Shadrack Stallings his heirs and assigns & that from time to time & at all times forever hereafter he the said Shadrack Stallings his heirs & assigns by power and virtue of these presenst may & shall enter into have hold use possess & forever enjoy the said one hundred and twenty three acres of land free and clear & freely & clearly acquited sealed kept harmless indemnified of and from all former or other gifts grants bargains sails infeoffements wills intales dowries entents and incumbrances whatsoever, the taxes which shall hereafter annually become due onto excepted, moreover the said Jesse Register doth for himself his heirs executors & administrators, do promise and engage that at any time at the reasonable request of him the said Shadrack Stallings his heirs or assigns or at his or their cost and charges in the law make or cause to be made and duly executed any farther or other deed or instrument of writing for the same making a title of the said land & premises to him the said Shadrack Stallings his heirs & assigns forever as he the said Shadrack Stallings his heirs or assigns or his or their council learned in the law shall advise devise or acquire and farther more the said Jesse Register doth hereby promise & agree for himself his heirs executors & administrators to & with the said Shadrack Stallings his heirs & assigns to warrant and forever defend the title of said land to him the said Shadrack Stallngs his heirs & assigns forever, free from the lawfull claim of him the said Jesse Register his heirs executors or administrators or any other person or persons whatsoever. In witness whereof the said Jesse Register hath hereunto set his hand seal the day & year first above written. Jesse Register Signed Sealed & delivered in the presence of us.
