(Transcribed by Joan S Dunn) Deed Book E Page 181, 182, & 183 Jesse Darden To James Thompson Deed 123 acres This Indenture made the seventh day of February in the fiftenth year of american Independnce and in the year of our Lord Christ one thousand seven hundred and Ninety one Between Jesse Darden of the state of North Carolina and County of Sampson of the one part and James Thompson of said County and State afore said of the other part. Witnesseth that for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred pounds current money of the state aforesaid to the saide Jesse Darden in hand paid by the said James Thompson before the ensealing and Delivery of these presents the receipt and payment whereof is hereby acknowledged he the said Jesse Darden hath by these presents granted bargained sold and confirmed unto the said James Thompson his heirs and assigns forever a certain tract lot peice or parcel of Land situate lying and being in the County of Duplin being part of a certain tract that was conveyed to the said Jesse Darden by Deed of Indenture from James Pearsall Esquire Sheriff of the said County of Duplin by virtue of an Execution at the Instance of James Lockhart against the Estate of Henry McCulloh or Henry E. McCulloh bearing Date the 15th of August Anno DOmino 1785 and Bounded as follows viz. Begining at a stake in the Run of Brickhall swamp on said James Thompsons line formerly called Thomas Adkisons line thence along said line So. 87 Wt. nearly about 82 or 84 poles to a pine on the line the corner of a survey of three hundred acres of said Thompsons formerly Robert Dickens Land Being on the south west side of said Brickhall thence the line of said survey of 300 acres No. 30 Wt. 90 poles to a stake thence No. 60 Wt. 64 poles to a white oak thence No. 86 Wt. 68 pole to a gum and pine in a Drain the corner thence Thompsons line No. 35 Wt. 20 poles to a pine thence No. 20 Wt. 46 poles to a poplar in spring branch William Wards corner formerly Hancock Mathews corner thence down the meanders of said spring branch with William Wards corner to a water oak at the mouth one a straigt line So. 72 Et. 124 poles thence down the Run of Brickhall to with Kedar Bryans line as the Runs meanders to the first station containing by estimation one hundred and twenty three acres be the same more or less. To have and to hold the said one hundred and twenty three acres with all the previledges and advanges thereunto belonging or in any wise appurtaining to him the said James Thompson his heirs and assigns forever and the said Jesse Darden for himself his heirs and assigns doth by these presents bargain alien set over and confirm forever free and clear of all Incumberance the premises aforesaid to him the said James Thomson his Heirs and assigns forever and the said Jesse Darden doth hereby for himself his heirs and assigns covenant to and with the said James Thompson his heirs and assigns to warrent and Defend the aforesaid premises and Appertenances and every part there of from the Lawful claim of any person or persons claiming by from or under him the said Jesse Darden and from all manner of person or persons whatsoever who may hereafter lay any Lawful claim to the same. In witness whereof the said Jesse Darden hath hereunto set his hand and seal at Duplin the date before written signed sealed and delivered In presence of us Jesse Darden Joseph Dickson Nathan Waller Anne Dickson State of No. Carolina Duplin County April Term 1791 Then was the within Deed proved in open Court by the oath of Nathan Waller and ordered to be registered.
