Jeremiah Hulet To Solomon Carter
Deed for 100 acres lands
This indenture made this fourteenth day of February in the year of our Lord
one thousand seven hundred & eighty seven between Jeremiah Hulet in the province of
No. Carolina & County of Duplin of the one part & Solomon Carter of the province and
County aforesaid of the other part. Witnesseth, that for and in consideration of the
sum of thirty pounds current money to me in hand paid by the said Carter, before the
ensealing & delivery of these presents, the receipt whereof I acknowledge myself to
be fully satisfied contented and paid every part and parcel thereof have given granted
bargained sold and confirmed & conveyed unto the aforesaid Solomon Carter his heirs
executors administrators or assigns forever, one certain tract or parcel of land
situate lying & being in the County aforesaid, on the east side of the No. East River
and west side the Beaverdam prong of Limestone. Begining at a water oak Joseph
Canaday's upper corner in a glade or drean eighty yards wide of the swamp, thence
Canaday's line So. 35 Wt. 40 pole to a pine, thence Wt. 60 pole to a pine, thence No.
43 pole to a pine, thence No. 20 Wt. 120 poles to a pine, thence No. 70 Et. 80 poles
to a loblolly bay in Mirey Branch, thence Mirey Branch to the mouth, and down the run
of Limestone to Joseph Canaday's line, and with the same eighty yards to the begining,
containing in the whole one hundred acres. To have and to hold togeather unto the
said Solomon Carter his heirs executors admns. or assigns forever, and for my part the
aforesaid Jeremiah Hulet any heirs executors administrators or assigns doth hereby
covenant grant to & with the said Solomon Carter his heirs executors admns. or assigns
that the aforesaid land & premises is free & clear of all incumbrances whatsoever, and
that the said Solomon Carter his heirs executors, administrators or assigns, that the
aforesaid land and premises is free & clear of all incumbrances, and that the said
Solomon Carter his heirs executors admns or assigns may and shall forever hereafter
hold possess occupie & peacebly enjoy the said land & premises with all benefits and
appurtenances to the same belonging, onlky excepted yielding & paying the rents that
may due, furthermore for my part the said Jeremiah Hulet my heirs executors
administrators and assigns, by these presents doth frorever hereafter warrant & defend
against the lawfull clame of any person whatsoever, the aforesaid land and premises
with all benefits & appurtenances to the said Solomon Carter his heirs executors
admns. or assigns. In witness whereof I have set my hand & seal the day & year above
written.
