This Indenture made ths 9th day of August in the Tenth year of American Independence and
in the year of our Lord Christ 1785. Between James Williams of the State of No. Carolina
Blacksmith and Elec his wife of the one part and Willoiam McGee of the same State and
County of the other part. Witnesseth that the said James Williams and Elec his wife for
and In Consideration of the sum of two hundred pounds specie well and truly paid before
the Ensealing and Delivery of these presents by the said William McGee the receipt whereof
they doth hereby acknowledge and themselves to be fully satisfied therewith contented and
paid and of all and Every part and parcel thereof Hath Given granted bargained sold aliened
& Enfeoffed conveyed confirmed and set over unto the said William McGee of the other part
Witnesseth that he the said James Williams and Elci his wife for and In Consideration of
the sum of two hundred pounds specie well and truly paid before the Ensealing and Delivery
of these presents by the said William McGee the receipt whereof they doth hereby acknowledge
and theimselves to be fully satisfied therewith Contented and paid and of all and Every part
and parcel thereof Hath Given Granted bargained sold aliened & Enfeofed Conveyed Confirmed
and set over unto the said William McGee and by these presents doth fully freely and absolutely
give grant bargain sell alien Enfeoffe convey confirm assign and set over unto the said William
McGee his heirs assigns forever all the following tracts or parcells of Land situate Lying and
being in Duplin County afforsaid that is to say one tract or parcel of Land purchased by the
said James William of John Sawyer on Maxwell swamp. Begining at a white oak near Max. swamp
Running No 55 Et 43 chains to a pine thence no. 33 Wt 45 chains to a pine. Thence So 55 Wt
45 chains to a stake by the branch and down the branch to the first station containing two
hundred acres of Land be the same more or less and by a deed of Bargain and sale of the said
John Sawyer to the said James Williams bearing date the 24th day of October 1769 may more fully
appear as also one onther Tract or parcel of Land joining the above survey Begining at a white
oak on the Et. side of the Branch and runs So. 35 Wt. 160 pole to a pine thence So. 35 Et. 260
pole to a black jack cypress Parkers line thence So. 55 Et. 80 pole to a white oak said James
Williams corner by a marsh thence along his line No. 35 Wt. 180 pole to a stake on the marsh
thence to the Begining Containing one hundred and fifty acres of Land as by patent bearing
Date the 25th day of July 1774 may more fully appear also one other Tract of Land containing
one hundred and sixty acres adjoining the Last mentioned Lands Begining at a black jack said
James Williams Corner of a survey of 150 acres thence as that line No. 35 Wt. 260 poles to a
pine his Corner then the same Course 18 poles to a pine and white oak thence So. 55 Wt.
crossing goos pond So 10 poles to a large poplar and white oak in Armstrong branch by a fork
thence Down the run the Various Courses Joining Armstrong Land abt. 270 pole to a stake at the
run the corner of a survey of one hundred acres thence as that line No. 55 Et. 46 poles to the
Beging. As also one other tract of Land containing one hundred acres on both sides of maxwell
swamp Begining at a white oak on the wt. side of said swamp thence So. 55 Wt 120 poles to the
run of Armstrongs branch thence down said branch about 160 poles to a Dogwood at the run thence
as Oston Beaslys line No. 5 Wt one hundred & twenty poles to a Poplar his Corner his Corner
thence as his other line No. 85 Et. 87 poles to a pine thence No. 333 Wt. 25 poles to a red oak
by a Branch James Williams Corner thence as his other line No. 30 Et. 50 poles to a pine thence
No. 20 Wt. 50 poles to said Williams line thence as the same So. 54 Wt. to the Begining Reference
being had to two patents Bearing Date sixth day of April 1780 may more fully appear also one
other tract of Land containing Eighty acres on the Et. side of Maxwell swamp begining at a
Lightwood post on the side of sawneyes branch thence No. 60 Wt. pole to a pine Thence No. 9 Et.
16 poles to a black jack thence No. 5 Et. 40 poles to a burch thenc No. 35 Wt. 40 poles to a
white oak & Hickory over a small branch. Thence No. 63 Wt. 12 poles to a white and red oak
thence No. 13 Et. 70 poles to a stake thence So. 50 Et. 100 poles thence to the begining as by
deed of bargain and sale from Austin Beesly to the said James Williams bearing date the 15th day
of May 1783 may appear. To have and to hold the said bargained Lands and premises with all and
singular the Rights members and appurtainances there only belonging to him the William McGee his
heirs and assigns for ever in as full and ample a manner as he the said James Williams by his
titles before recited might or Could hold and enjoy the same without the Least set hindrence
molestation or Interruption of him the said James Williams and Elce his with their heirs or assigns
and that free and clear freely and clearly acquited of all and all manner of former or other gifts
grants bargains sales Leases wills mortgages Intails Jointers Judgements Dowers Executions Entents
troubles of Incumberances of any kind whatsoever had made done of Committed by him the said James
William and Elce his wife the state taxes only Excepted. And the said James and Elce Williams
doth hereby further Covenant and Engage for themselves their heirs Executors administrators or
assigns to warrant and for ever defend the said William McGee his heirs or assigns in the Quiet
possession of the aforesaid Land and premises with their appurtainances form and against the Lawfull
of Just Claim or Demand of any person or persons whatsoever claimin or to claim by from or under
them the said James Williams and Elce his wife their heirs or assigns or any other person or persons
whatsoever In witness whereof the said James WIlliams and Elce his wife hath hereunto set their
hands and seals the day and year first written.
