(Transcribed by Joan S Dunn) Deed Book 12 Page 46 James Williams To the Widow & Heirs of Phill Southerland State of North Carolina Duplin County Know all men by these presents that I James Williams of the County & State aforesaid is held & firmly bound unto the Widow and Heirs of Phill Southerland in the sum of six hundred dollars which payment well and truly to be made I bind my self my heirs and assigns jointly and severally by these present this 16th day of March 1835 The condition of the above obligation is this that the said Phill Southerland Dect was indebted to James Pearsall and Stephen Graham to the amount of one hundred and thirty four dollard and an Execution was Leaved on the land of said Southerland to satisfy said Executio and I the said James Williams have this day bid of said Lands at Sheriff sale for the amount of said Executions and it is further understood that I the said James Williams do bind myself to sell said lands to the Best advantage and after paying the aforesaid Debts to pay over to the said Widow or the Heirs of said Phill Southerland all the ballance of the price of said Land and by so doing the above obligation will be void otherwise to Remain in full fource and virtue date above written James Williams Jur signed sealed in presents of Th J Kinnear State of North Carolina Duplin County Court of please and Quarter Sessions July term 1839 The Execution of the within bond is duly proved in open court by the oath of Thomas J Kinnear the subscribing witness and is ordered to be Registered Copy N Routledge Rgr Test James Dickson Clk
