James Williams To Austen Beesley
Deed for 50 acres lands
This indenture made the twenty fourth day of April in the ninth year of the American
Independence & in the year of our Lord Christ one thousand seven hundred & eighty five, between
James Williams of the State of No. Carolina & County of Duplin of the one part, and Austin
Beesley of the same place of the other part. Witnesseth, that the said James Williams Senr.
for divers good causes and consideration him therunto moving, but more especially for the
valuable consideration of the sum of five pounds lawfull money of the State aforesaid to him
in hand well and truly paid or secured to be paid by Austin Beesley aforesaid, before the
ensealing and delivery of these presents, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath by
these given granted bargained sold assigned & set over tot he said Austin Beesley his heirs
and assigns forever, a certain piece or parcel of land sittuate lying and being in Duplin
County aforesaid on the branches or dreans of Maxwell swamp, being the western part of half
of a survey of one hundred acres of land granted to James Middleton the twenty second of July
1774. Begining at a pine sapling Solomon Beesley's corner on the first line of the patent
and runs with the paten line North West 140 poles to a stake by Sawney's Branch, 20 poles
beyond Dickson's & Rigbee's corner, thence So. 30 West 50 poles to a stake, thence So. 50 Et.
135 poles to a stake Solomon Beesley's corner, thence along his line No. 31 East 78 poles to
the first station. To have and to hold the aforesaid land and premises containing fifty acres
be the same more or less, with all the appurtenances to the same belonging, free from all
incumbrances whatever given granted or done by him the said James Williams and the said Austen
Beesley the aforesaid land and premises to him the said Austin Beesley shall & will warrent and
defend from & against him the said James Williams his heirs & assigns & the said Austin Beesley
the arofesaid land & premises shall and may have hold use occupy enjoy and possess in as full
and ample a manner as he the said James Williams by his deed from James Middleton might or
could have enjoyed. In witness the said James Williams hath hereunto set his hand the date
above.
