James Taylor To Absolom Langston
Deed for 160 acres lands
This indenture made third day of October in the year of our Lord one thousand seven
hundred and eighty two between James Taylor of the State of North Carolina & County of Duplin
of the one part, and Absolom Langston of the State aforesad and County of Wayne of the other
part, Witnesseth that for and in consideration of the sum of thirty pounds specie to me James
Taylor in hand paid by Absolom Langston before the ensealing and delivery of these presents,
the receipt whereof I acknowledge myself to be satisfied and paid every part and parcel thereof,
therefore hath given granted bargained sold and conveyed and by these presents due fully &
freely absolutely aline convey and confirm unto Absolom Langston his heirs executors
administrators and assigns forever, one certain tract of parcel of land situate lying and
being in the County of Duplin and on a branch of Buck Marsh called Cabbin Branch. Begining
at a pine and runs No. 25 Wt. to a pine, thence So. 65 Et. 252 pole to a pine, thence No. 25
Et. to a pine, thence up the meanders of the branch to the begining, containing one hundred
and sixty, be the same more or less. To have and to hold to the saide Absolom Langston his
heirs executors and assigns, together with all the advantages woods ways water or water courses
and as for my part the aforesaid James Taylor my heirs executors administrators & assigns doth
hereby covenant promise and engage unto the said Absolom Langston his heirs and assigns that
they shall peacelby and quietly hold use occupy and enjoy the aforesaid land, and premises
with all the appertenances and priviledges to the same belonging, free and clear of all
incumbrances whatsever, and as for me the aforesaid James Taylor my heirs execuors
administrators and assigns will forever warrant and defend the aforesaid land and premises
as aforesaid Absolom Langston his heirs executors administrators & assigns against the lawful
claims of any persons whatsoever. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and fixed my
seal the day & date first written.
