(Transcribed by Joan S Dunn) Deed Book 1 A Page 302, 303, & 304 James Pearsall To Robert Dickson Deed for 80 acres lands This indenture made the eighteenth day of July in the tenth year of American Independance and in the year of our Lord Christ one thousand seven hundred and eighty five. Between James Pearsall of the State of No. Carolina & County of DUplin of the one part & Robert Dickson of the same place of the other part. Witnesseth that the said James Pearsall for divers good causes and consideration him thereunto moving but more especially for the valuable consideration of the sum of three pounds current money of the State aforesaid to him in hand well and truly paid or secured to be paid by Robert Dickson aforesaid, before the ensealing & delivery of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, hath by these presents given granted bargained sold assigned & set over to the said Robert Dickson his heirs & assigns forever, one certain piece of parcel of land situate lying & being in Duplin County afoaresaid on the west side of the North East Branch of Cape Fear River, north side of Maxwell swamp on the head of Eldar Branch. Begining at a red oad Robt. Dickson's corner, in the fork of the far prong, thence as his line So. 67 1/2 Wt. 72 poles to a pine the patent corner on Clugston's line, thence as his line No. 25 West 110 poles to a stake, thence No. 72 East 100 poles to a pine on John McCulloch's line, thence along McCulloch's line So. 75 Et. 56 poles to a pine the patent corner on Alexander Dickson's line, thence his old line now Robert Dickson's line So. 15 Et. 52 poles to a red oak the patent corner, thence Robt. Dickson's line to the first station, containing in the whole eighty acres be the same more or less, being part of the contents of a patent granted to the said James Pearsall the tenth day of November Anno Domini 1784, etc. To have and to hold the aforesaid land and premises, with all the appurtenances to the same belonging or in any wise appertaining of every nature or kind whatever to him the said Robert Dickson his heirs and assigns free from all former gifts grants mortgages intails will dowers right or title of dowers executions entents or troubles whatever committed or don by him the said James Pearsall his heirs or assigns or any other person or persons whatever by from or under him or them or any of them & the said Robert Dickson the aforesaid land & premises shall and may have hold use occupie enjoy & possess as his own free and lawfull inheritance, free from all incumbrance whatever, given granted or done by him the said James Pearsall the aforesaid land and premises to him the said Robert Dickson his heirs & assigns shall and will warrant & forever defend from and against him the said James Pearsall his heirs & assigns as also from & against the just & lawfull claim of all and every other person or persons whatever, who may hereafter lay any lawfull claim to the same. In witness whereof the said James Pearsall hath hereunto set his hand & seal the date above written. J. Pearsall Signed Sealed & delivered in presence of us Joseph Dickson W.
