James Mills To WIlliam Hall Deed 22 March 1787

(Transcribed by Joan S Dunn) Deed Book 1 A Page 417, & 418 James Mills To WIlliam Hall Deed for 100 acres lands No. Carolina . This indenture made the twenty second day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and eighty seven, & in the eleventh year of the American Independence. Between James Mills of the State aforesaid & County of Duplin of the one part, & William Hall of the same State & County aforesaid of the other part, witnesseth that the said James Mills for & in consideration of the sum of thirty pounds current money of the State aforesaid to him in hand well and truely paid by the said William Hall, at or before the sealing & delivery of these presents, the receipt and payment whereof is hereby acknowledged hath granted bargained sold aliend enfeoffed conveyed confirmed and by these presents, doth grant bargain sell alien enfeoffe convey and confirm unto the said William Hall his heirs & assigns forever, all that tract or parcel of land in Duplin County & State aforesaid granted to the said James Mills by patent bearing date the first day of April 170, on the north side of Maxwell Swamp & both sides of Stockinghead. Begining at a white oak John Whitman's corner, thence as his line No. 45 Et. 196 pole to a red oak, thence along Adam Plats line No. 35 Et. 80 pole to a pine, thence So. b70 Et. eighty poles to a pine by his old corner, thence as or near to his old line South 40 Et. 180 poles, thence to the begining, containing one hundred acres be the same more or less, with allo the appurtenances & members whatsoever, & the reversion & reversions remainder and remainders of all and singular the land tenements heriditaments & premises thereby granted or intended to be granted & of all and every part and parcel thereof, & all rents issues services and profits to them or any of them or any part or parcel of them, or any of them incedent, belonging or appertaining, & also all & every the estate right claim interest, & demands whatsoever of him the said William Hall of or into the said land, tenements hereditaments & premises whatsoever hereby granted or intended to be granted or any of them or any part or parcel thereof. To have and to hold the said bargained land & premises tenements & heriditaments hereby granted with their appurtenances to the said William Hall his heirs & assigns, to the only proper use & behoofing the said William Hall his heirs & assigns forever, and the said James Mills for himself his heirs executors & administrators doth hereby promise covenant and agree that he the said James Mills his heirs executors and admns. shall and will at all times warrant & defend the premises to the said William Hall (except the lawfull tax will yearly become due) his heirs and assigns all lawfull claims demands whatsoever whereby the said above mentioned premises might or may be afected or incumbend, contrary to the true intent & meaning of these presents. In witness whereof the said James Mills hath hereunto set his hand & fixed his seal the day & year first above written. James Mills Signed sealed & delivered in the presence of Joseph T. Rhodes Thomas Routledge junr. State of No. Carolina Duplin County July Term 1787. Then was the within deed proved in open Court by the oath of Joseph Thomas Rhodes & ordered to be registered. Test W.
