James Gillespie To Lamuel Williams
Deed 100 acres
This Indenture made the ____ day of ____ in the fifteenth day of American Independence and in the year
of our Lord 1791. Between James Gillespie of the State of North Carolina and of Duplin County of the one part
and Lamuel Williams of the same State aforesaid and of Onslow County of the other part. Witnesseth that I the
said James Gillespie for and in Consideration of the sum of Ten pounds specie to him in hand well and Truly paid
by the said Lamuel Williams the Receipt of which is hereby acknowledged and himself to be therewith fully
satisfied Contented and paid hath bargained sold alienated Enfeoffed Confirmed assigned and set over unto the
said Lamuel Williams his heirs and assigns forever all that Tract or parcel of Land Situate lying and being in
Duplin County aforesaid on the west side of Limestone Creek. Beginning at a water oak at the Run of the Creek
John Humphreys corner thence as his line So. 42. Wt. 120 poles to a stake Same course continued 20 poles to a
stake thence So. 48. Et. 120 poles to a stake thence No. Forty two Et. 20 poles to a stake thence the same course
continued 120 poles to a Bay at the run Limestone thence down the Courses of the Run to the first Station—
Containing one hundred acres of Land as by Patent bearing date the 29th day of October 1782 may more fully
appear. To have and to hold the said Bargained Land and premises with their appurtainances unto the said
Lamuel Williams his heirs and assigns forever in as full and ample a manner as he the said James Gillespie
might or Could hold by his Patent and that Free and Clear freely and Clearly acquit of all and all former or
other gifts, grants bargains sails Leases wills mortgages Intails Executions Extents Troubles or any Incumbrances
of any kind whatsoever had made done or Committed by him the said James Gillespie his heirs or assigns Except
such Taxes as the State may hereafter be Imposed on the same and the sd. James Gillespie doth hereby further
Covenant and Engage to warrant and Defend the said Lamuel Williams his heirs and assigns in the Quiet and
peaceable possession of the said Bargained Lands and premises from and against the Lawfull or Just Claim of
him the said James Gillespie or any person or persons Claiming or to Claim by from or under him or any other
person whatsoever. In witness whereof the said James Gillespie hat hereunto set his hand and seal the day and
year first above written.
