State of North Carolina New Hanover County
This Indenture made the Sixteenth day of March Annodomini one Thousand
Eight hundred & thirty seven Between James & Frederick Butler of the County
of New Hanover of the one part & Elijah Butler & Isaac Jones of the County &
State aforesaid of the other part witnesseth that for and in consideration of the
sum of Fifty dollars current money of the State aforesaid to us the said James
& Frederick Butler in hand paid by the said Elijah Butler & Israel Jones before
the signing & sealing these presents we the said John & Frederick Butler have
granted bargained & sold conveyed confirmed unto the said Elijah Butler & Israel
Jones their heirs & assigns forever a certain tract or parcel of Land lying & being in
the County of Duplin & State aforesaid on the Et side of the North East River & South
side of Cypress creek in the fork of the Round about and the watering hole Branch
beginning at a black gum in the round about running thence a direct line to gum in the
head of the watering hole branch thence with various courses of the watering hole
branch to a black gum at or near the run of the round about branch thence with the
meanders of said round about to the first station containing by estimation fifty acres
more or less also another piece or parcel of land adjoining the first Line of the
aforesaid tract containing thirty four acres it being a part Hesikiah Butler Sen. Decd to
have & to hold the said two tracts or parcels of land with all the previleges appertaining
there unto him the said Elijah Butler Isaac Jones there heirs & assigns forever against
the claim or claims of any person whatsoever in testimony of which we the aforesaid
James & Frederick have hereunto set our hands and afixted our seals the day above written
