James Dickson To William Bush
Deed 260 acres
This Indenture made the twenty Third day of March in the year of our Lord one
Thousand seven hundred and ninety one. Between James Dickson of the state of North
Carolina and County of Duplin of the one part Planter and Wiliam Bush of the same place
(Cooper) of the other part. Witnesseth, that the said James Dickson for and in
consideration of the valuable sum of one Hundred and fifty pounds Currency to him in
hand paid by the said William Bush aforesaid, The Receipt whereof is hereby acknowledge,
Hath given granted bargained and sold, and by these presents doth give grant bargain and
sell unto the said William Bush his heirs and assigns forever, The following Tracts or
parcels of Lands Hereafter to be mentioned. Viz. One Tract situate lying in the County
and State aforesaid Begining at a water oak and two pines by the side of Middle branch
and Runs Thence north 35 Wt. 127 poles to a pine in the Marsh the upper side of Folly
Branch. Thence crossing Maxwell swamp So. 55 Wt. 127 poles to a pine So. 35 Et. 127 poles,
thence to the Begining, Containing by estimation One Hundred acres be the same more or
Less. As also one other Tract or parcel of Land adjoining to the above mentioned one
Hundred acres and in the County and state aforesaid. Begining at a poplar Tree on the
Run in Folly branch, on the line of the above mentioned one Hundred acres (it being
formerly Morgan Sweeneys line). Thence as that line South 25 Et. 104 poles to a pine on
the Edge of Middle Branch, thence up the branch with William Rigbies line North 60 Et.
116 poles to a pine, THence Richard Williams's line North 20 Wt. 194 poles to an ashe at
the Run of Folly Branch about one Hundred and Fifty yards above the mouth of Wolfpitt branch.
Thence as the Run with Joseph Dicksons line down the Branch as it Meanders to the Begining.
The said Last mentioned Tract was Patened by Edward Dickson and contains by estimation one
Hundred acres also one other Tract or parcel of Land situate lying and being in the County
of Duplin and state of North Carolina aforesaid on the north side of Maxwell swamp and west
side of Folly Branch, adjoining to the last mentioned one Hundred acres, Begining at a Poplar
Maple and gum at the Run of Folly branch, Thence the paten line north 45 Wt. 80 poles to a
poast, Thomas Heaths corner near a bent of the Road, Thence to and with the road and Thomas
Heaths line north 42 Et. 128 poles to a pine and blackjack on the side of the Road, Thomas
Heaths corner, thence South 75 Et. 62 poles to a poplar and gum on the Run of Folly at the
Mouth of Wolfpitt branch, Thence down the Run of Folly as it meanders to the Begining,
containing by estimation sixty acres be the same more or Less. To have and to hold the
above mentioned Lands and premises with all thear improvements and appurtenances to the
said Land and Belonging to or in any wise appurtaining to him the said William Bush his
Heirs & assigns forever free from all former gifts grants Mortgages wills Dowers right or
Title of Dower of any other incombrance whatever given granted or done by him the said James
Dickson or any other person by from or under him and the said James Dickson the aforesaid
Lands & premises shall and will warrant and forever Defend to him the said William Bush his
heirs and assigns forever, against the aforesaid James Dickson his heirs and assigns, as
also from and against the just and Lawfull claim of any other person or persons whatsoever
who may hereafter Lay any Lawfull claim to the same. In Witness whereof the said James
Dickson hath hereunto set his hand and seal date above written.
