James Chambers To Michael Glisson
Deed for 200 acres lands
This indenture made this fifth day of July & in the year of our Lord Christ one
thousand seven hundred & eighty seven, in the eleventh year of our Independence, Between
James Chambers of the State of No. Carolina & County of Duplin planter, of the one part
& Michael Glisson of the same County & State aforesaid planter, of the other part.
Witnesseth, that the said James Chambers do for and in consideration of the sum of sixty
pounds specie to me in hand paid by the said Michael Glisson, before the ensealing &
delivering of these presents, the receipt whereof I do hereby acknowledge myself fully
satisfied & paid & of every part & parcel hereof doth hereby acquit & discharge him the
said Michael Glisson his heirs & assigns forever & have given granted bargained & sold
conveyed & confirmed unto Michael Glisson his heirs executors administrators or assigns
forever, one certain tract or parcel of land containing 200 acres, situate lying & being
in the County and State aforesaid on the south side of the North East swamp, the lower
end of the great marsh, between Horsepen Branch and Sandy run. Begining at a pine Dennis
Glisson's corner and runs South 25 East 188 poles to a small pine, thence No. 65 East 188
poles to a stake in the marsh thence No. 25 Wt. 188 poles to a stake, thence to the
begining, the said land patened by William Mobley patent bearing date the 16th December
1762, and the said Michael Glisson his heirs executors administrators or assigns to have
and to hold the above bargained land and premises with all the appurtenances thereunto
belonging or in any wise appertaining to him the said Michael Glisson his heirs & assigns
forever, to his & their only proper use benefit & behoof, & I the said James Chambers do
for myself my heirs executors & administrators covenant & agree too & with the said Michael
Glisson his heirs & assigns that they may & shall from time to time & at all times hereafter
by force and virtue of these presents lawfully peacebly & quietly have hold use occupie
possess & enjoy the above bargaine land and premises with all the appurtenances thereunto
belonging or in any wise appertaining without any interuption of me the said James Chambers
my heirs executors administrators or any other assigns or any other person or persons
whatsoever, & I the said James Chambers do for myself my heirs executors administrators
warrant and forever defend the above bargained land & premises unto the said Michael Glisson
his heirs executors administrators & assigns forever, against the lawfull claim of me my
heirs executors admns. or any person or persons whatsoever. In witness whereof I have
hereunto set my hand & fixed my seal the day & date above written.
