(Transcribed by Joan S Dunn) Deed Book E Page 381, 382, & 383 James Bland To David Carleton Deed 200 acres This Indenture made this Twenty fifty day of June in the year of our Lord one thousand seven Hundred and eighty nine, and in the Thirteenth year year of the American Independence, Between James Bland of the State of No. Carolina and County of Duplin of the one part and David Carleton of the same place of the other part. Witnesseth that he the said James Bland for and in consideration of the sum of Fifty pounds currency to him in hand paid by the aforesaid David Carleton the receipt whereof the said James Bland doth hereby acknowledge himself thence with to be fully satisfied contented and paid. Hath by these presents given granted Bargained and sold assigned & set over to the aforesaid David Carleton one certain Tract or parcel of Land situate lying and being in the County of Duplin aforesaid on a branch of Rockfish called the Iron Mind branch. Beginning at a pine on George Mears’s line, running thence as his line So. 60 Wt. 150 poles to a stake, Thence North 24 Wt. 120 poles to a stake thence No. 66 Et. 140 poles to a stake to the first station. Containing one hundred acres more or less as also one other tract or parcel of Land lying and being in the County of Duplin and state aforesaid, on both sides of the Iron Mind branch joining the above one Hundred acres, Beginning at a stake by a pine a corner tree of a survey formerly Patened by John Blanton. Thence along that line No. 65 Et. 180 poles to a pine. Thence No. 25 Wt. 80 poles to a pine, thence So. 65 Wt. 140 poles to a pine thence So. 225 Et. 160 poles to a pine. Thence No. 65 Et. 60 poles to a stake on John Blantons old Line, thence along said line to the first station, containing one Hundred acres be the same more or less. Together with all and singular the appurtenances belonging to the aforesaid two Tracts or parcels of Land and also all the Estate, right Title Interest Claim and Demand of him the said James Bland of in and to the said premises and every part thereof. To have and to hold the said two Tracts of Land and premises with the appurtenances to the said David Carleton his heirs and assigns forever to the only proper use benefit and behoofe of him the said David Carleton his heirs and assigns forever and the said James Bland for himself his heirs Executors administrators and assigns, Doth hereby warrant and forever Defend the before recited Lands and premises and every part thereof unto the aforesaid David Carleton his heirs and assigns forever against the Lawfull Claim and Demand of any person or persons Claiming by from or under me or my heirs or any other person whatever. In witness whereof the said James Bland hath hereunto set his hand and seal Date first above written. Signed sealed and Delivered In the presence of us James Bland Fredrick Williams John Waters State of No. Carolina Duplin County January Term 1791 Then was the within Deed proved in open Court by the of Fredrick Williams and ordered to be Registered.
