Stallins Deed 25 acres of lands This indenture made this twentieth day of July in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and eighty four and in the ninth year of Independence between Jacob Wells of the County of Duplin and State of North Carolina of the one part and Shadrack Stallings of the same County and State aforesaid of the other part, witnesseth that the said Jacob Wells for divers good causes and considerations him hereunto moving, but more especiallly for and in consideration of the sum of twenty pounds specie to him in hand paid or secured to be paid before the sealing and delivery hereof, the receipt whereof he doth acknowledge and himself therewith to be fully satisfied & content and thereof and therefrom doth hereby acquit the aforesaid Shadrick Stallings his heirs, executors, administrators and assigns hath bargained sold enfoosed conveyed & confirmed and hath by these presents for himself his heirs executors & administrators hath doth fully freely and absolutely bargain sell enfoos convey and forever confirm unto the said Shadrick Stallings his heirs and assigns one certain tract or parcel of land containing twenty five acres to the same more or less situate, lying and being in the County of Duplin on the east side of Bens Creek. Begining at a maple in the edge of the swamp at the mouth of a small branch at the ford at an old Beaver dam, thene up the said small branch So. 27 East 65 poles to a small pine at said Shadrack Stalling's own corner, thence his line So. 70 West 95 poles to a Black Gum at the edge of the swamp, and up the same on the east side as it meanders to the begining, it being part of the contents of a paten granted to Elijah Bowen and afterwards conveyed by deed to Jacob Wells, to have and to hold the said twenty five acres of land and premises with the appurtenances to the said Shadrack Stallings his heirs and assigns forever ian as full and ample manner to all intents and purposes as he the said Jacob Wells did might or could have held the same before the making hereof, and the said Jacob Wells doth hereby promise and engage for himself his heirs Exrs. and admins. that at the time of sealing and delivery hereof the said Jacob Wells is and stands seiged of the said land & premises of an indefeasable estate of inheritance in fee simple and hath in himself good and rightful power and lawful authority to grant bargain sell convey and forever confirm the said land and premises and every part and parcel thereof with their and every of their appurtenances unto the said Shadrack Stallings his heirs and assigns and that from time to time and at all times forever hereafter said Shadrack Stallings his heirs and assigns by proved and virtue hereof may and shall enter into have hold use possess and forever enjoy the said twenty five acres of land free and clear and freely and clearlly acquitted discharged saved kept harmless & indermnifyed of and from all formes or other gifts grants bargains sells enforcements wills interests jointure dowers executors extents or incumbrances whatsoever the taxes which shall hereafter become due only excepted moreover the said Jacob Wells doth for himself his heirs executors and administrators do promise and engage that at any time at the reasonable request of him the said Shadrack Stallings his heirs or assigns or at his or their cost & charges in the law make or cause to be made & duly executed every further or other deed or instrument if righting for the same making a title of the said land and premises to him the said Shadrack Stallings his heirs and assigns forever as he the said Shadrack Stallings his heirs and assigns or his or their counsels learned in the law shall advise devise or require & for the more the said Jacob Wells doth hereby covenant and agree for himself his heirs executors and administrators to and with the said Shadrack Stallings his heirs & assigns to warrant and forever deferred the title of the said twenty five acres of land to him the Shadrack Stallings his heirs and assigns free from the lawful claim of him the Jacob Wells his heirs executors or administrators or any other person or persons whatsoever. In witness whereof the said Jacob Wells hath hereunto set his hand and seal the day and year above written. Jacob Wells Signed sealed and delivered in presents and in presence of us William Goff Edward Dickson State of North Carolina Duplin County, July Court 1784.
