(Transcribed by Joan S Dunn) Deed Book E Page 154, 155, & 156 Jacob Wells To Martin Wells Deed 100 acres This Indenture made the fourth day of January one thousand seven hundred and ninety & In the fourteenth year of American Independence Between Jacob Wells of the County of Duplin and State of No. Carolina planter on the one part & his Brother Martin Wells of the same place planter on the other part Witnesseth that the said Jacob Wells for and in Divers good causes and considerations Himself thereunto moving and consenting But more Especially for the valuable consideration of the sum of forty pounds to him in hand paid or secured to be paid before the Ensealing Hereof the Receipt whereof I do hereby acknowledge and thereof Doth Discharge the said Martain Wells of Every part and parcel thereof hath given granted Bargained sold and Delivered unto the said Martain Wells his heirs Executors Administrators and assigns forever one Messuage Tract or parcel of Land situate Lying and being in the county of Duplin and State aforesaid on the west side of the No. East River Butted and bounded as follows Begining at a water oak on a Branch of Rockfish Creek on the run of said branch Runing thence No. 80 Et. 90 poles to a pine near Thomas Wills Line thence No. 10 Wt. 180 poles to a pine thence So. 80 Wt. 90 poles to a pine crossing siad branch In the fork thence To and with the run of said Branch to the first station containing about one Hundred acres be the same more or less it being the contents of Patent granted to Aron Williams & Deeded By him to said Jacob Wells To have and to hold the said Demised Land and premises with all the appurtainances in any wise Belonging to the same to him the said Martain Wells his heirs Executors Administrators and assigns forever to have hold use occupy Enjoy and possess as his Lawfull Inheritance free and clear from Minor or former gifts grants Bargains sales Leases Mortgages wills Intails Jointers Dowers judgements Executions Extents or Trobles whatever and as for me the said Jacob Wells My heirs Executors and assigns shall & will forever warrant and Defend the said Demised Land and premises to him the said Martain Wells his heirs and assigns forever from against his the said Jacob Wells heirs and assigns as also from and against the just and lawful claim or claims of any other person or persons In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and fixed my seal Date above written signed sealed and Delivered in the presence of us Jacob Wells John Evers Platt John Bowen State of No. Carolina Duplin County April Term 1791 Then was the within Deed proved in open Court by the oath of John Evers and ordered to be Registered.
