Jacob Fussell by his Atty.Tim'y. Bloodworth To William Duff
Deed fir 360 acres lands
This indenture made this tenth day of April in the year or our Lord one thousand seven
hundred & eighty four, between Jacob Fussell of the City of Philidelphia in the province of
Pensylvania of the one part, and William Duff of the County of Dupliln in the province of North
Carolina of the other part. Witnesseth, that for and in consideration of the sum of forty
pounds proclamation maoney of the said province of North Carolina to me the said Jacob Fussell
in hand paid by the said William Duff before the sealing and delivery hereof, the receipt
whereof I the said Jacob Fussell do hereby acknowledge, have given granted and sold and by these
presents do give grant bargain and sell unto the said William Duff his heirs and assigns, two
certain parcels or tracts of land, one tract lying and being in the said County of Duplin
containing three hundred acres be the same more or less. Begining at a poplar tree on a branch
near near the line of Benjamin Fussell's land, thence runing So. 60 Et. 55 chains to a pine,
thence So. 14 Wt. 55 chains to a maple tree near Rockfish Creek, thence the river as of the said
courses delenated to the first station or place of begining, the other tract lying and being in
said County of Duplin, containing sixty acres of land be the same more or less. Begining at a
stake in Rockfish road etc., thence So. 80 Wt. 57 chains to a stake in an old field, thence No.
10 Wt. 34 chains 50 to two large pines by the forem thence So. 57 Et. 6 chains to to the said
road and along the said road to the place of beg'g. To have & to hold the said land with all
edifices fences and other improvements woods waters and other previledges and appurtenances
thence unto belonging unto him the William Duff his heirs and assigns, to the only proper use
and behoofe of him the said William Duff his heirs and assigns forever, free and clear of all
manner of incumbrances whatsoever the lawfull quit rents excepted and the said Jacob Fussell
doth hereby for himself his heirs executors & administrators promise and grant that at the
reasonable request cost and charges of the said William Duff his heirs or assigns he the said
Jacob Fussell his heirs executors administrators will at any time hereafter make execute and
acknowledge any other deed or deeds conveyance or conveyances which may be needful to further
and more amply secure the possession of the before bargained & sold premises & every part
thereof with all the appurtenances unto the said William Duff his heirs & assigns, and lastly
the said Jacob Fussell for himself his heirs executors and administrators and every of them
shall and will warrent and forever defend the above mentioned land and premises unto him the
said William Duff his heirs and assigns forever, against the lawfull claim or claims of any
person pr persons whatsoever. In witness whereof I the said Jacob Fussell have hereunto
interchangeably set my hand and seal the day and year first written.
