(Transcribed by Joan S Dunn) Deed Book 12 Page 116, & 117 Jacob J Johnston To Charity Deal & Elizabeth Thigpen State of North Carolina Duplin County to all people unto whom these presents shall come I Jacob Johnston of the State & County aforesaid send Greeting Know ye all that I the said Jacob J Johnston for and in consideration of the Natural love and affection which I have and bear unto my beloved girls Charity Deal & Elizabeth Thigpen and for divers other good causes and considerations me hereunto mooving first excepted my lifetime & my beloved wifes Elizabeth Johnstons our Lifetime rite of our Goods & chattles do give & grant and by these presents do give and grant unto the said Charity Deal & Elizabeth Thigpen all and singular my goods and chattles (Folling) vs horns cattle sheep Hogs bees House hold & Kitchen Furniture to have hold & enfeoff all and singular the said goods chattles and personal Estate aforesaid unto the said Charity Deal & Elizabeth Thigpen his Executors administrators and Assigns to the only proper use and behoof of him the said Jacob J Johnston his Executors administrators and assigns forever and I the said Jacob J Johnston all and singular the aforesaid Goods chattles and premises to the said Charity Deal & Elizabeth Thigpen his Executors administrators and assigns against all persons whatsoever shall and will warrant and forever defend by these presents witness whereunto I have set my hand and seal this July 20th 1839 signed sealed in the presents of us &c Jacob J Johnston Attest John J. James Attest F. Pickett Clijah Butler Duplin County Court October term 1839 the Execution of the within deed of gift is duly proved in open Court by the oath of Frederick Pickett a subscribing witness thereto & is ordered to be registered Copy N Routledge Rgr Test James Dickson Clk
