(Transcribed by Joan S Dunn) Deed Book 1 A Page 284, & 285 Henry Allen To James Hall Deed for 50 acres lands This indenture made this 18th day of July in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred & eighty six, and in the tenth year of the sovreignty & Independance of America between Henry Allen Senr. of the County of Duplin and State of North Carolina of the one part and James Hall of the County and State aforesaid of the other part. Witnesseth that the said Henry Allen for and in consideration of the sum of sixteen pounds specie to him in hand paid before the sealing and delivery of these presents, the receipt of which he doth hereby acknowledge & himself fully satisfied and paid & contented therewith and thereof & therefrom doth acquit & discharge the said James Hall his heirs executors administrators & assigns and doth by these presents fully freely and absolutely for himself and his heirs grant bargain sell and forever confirm unto the said James Hall part of a certain parcel or tract of land, patend by Zebulon Hollingsworth in the year one thousand seven hundred and sixty three, which tract of land contained one hundred and thirty one acres on Muddy Creek a Branch of the North East River, in the County of Duplin all that part on the west side of the swamp, containing fifty acres be the same more or less. Begining on the old line of said tract at the run of said swamp, runing thence the said line No. 65 Wt. pole to a pine the corner, thence So. 30 Wt. 160 pole to a white oak at the mouth of the Broad Branch by Jacob Brown's corner, thence with the run of said swamp called Mudy Creek to the first station, the said James Hall paying the annual publick tax. To have and to hold the said bargained premises, with their and every of their appurtenances unto the said James Hall his heirs and assigns forever, and the said Henry Allen for himself his heirs executors or administrators doth covenant & grant to the said James Hall his heirs or assigns & to the only proper use and behoofe of said James Hall his heirs & assigns shall and may from time to time & at all times hereafter, have hold possess & enjoy all and singular the above conveyed land without any trouble molestation or interuption of him the said Henry Allen his heirs executors administrators or any other person or persons whatsoever, and that freely & clearly discharged & kept harmless of him the said Henry Allen his heirs executors or assigns or any other person claiming lawfully by from or under him or any of their, but the said James Hall his heirs and assigns shall forever hereafter have hold the aforesaid land and premises according to the true intent and meaning of these presents. In witness whereof the said Henry Allen hath set his hand & fixed his seal the day and year first above written. Henry Allen Signed Sealed & delivered in presence of us Joseph T.
