Hancock Hatcher To Daniel Hicks
Deed or 50 acres lands
This indenture made the 17th day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand seven
hundred and eighty four, between Hancock Hatcher of the one part and Daniel Hicks of the other
part. Witnesseth that for and in consideration of the sum of fifty pounds to the said Hancock
Hatcher in hand paid by the said Daniel Hicks at or before the sealing and delivery of these
presents the receipt thereof he doth hereby acknowledge and there fore doth release acquit and
discharge the said Daniel Hicks executors & administrators by these presents he the said Hancock
Hatcher granted, bargained sold aliened and confirmed, and by these presents doth grant bargain
sell alien & confirm unto the said Daniel Hicks & his heirs a certain piece or parcel of land,
sittuate lying and being in the County of Duplin & State of No. Carolina, bounded as followeth,
lying and sittuate in the west side of Birchhall swamp about a mile and half below the Court
House it being part of a piece of land patened by Henry McCulloch and conveyed by him to David
Thompson deceased & willed by him to Willliam Thompson and conveyed by him to the said Hancock
Hatcher. Begining at a white oak on a branh of Buck hall the said Hancock Hatcher's corner of
a piece of land patened by William Thompson and since conveyed by him to the said Hatcher &
said Hicks corner of a piece of land patened by said Hicks and runing down the said branch
meanders as the run goes to the run of Buch hall swam & stake, thence up the run of said swamp
as it meanders to a stake of Hick's line of a piece of land patened by Joseph Williams, thence
along his line Wt. to corner tree red oaks, thence as his line So. 10 Et. 150 pole to a white
oak the begining, containing about fifty acres of land by estimation be the same more of less,
and all houses buildings orchards ways waters water courses profits commodities heriditaments &
appertenances whatsoever to the said premises hereby granted or any oart thereof belonging or
in any wise appertaining and the reversion & reversions remainder & remainders rent issues and
profits thereof and also all the estate right title interest use trust property claim and demand
whatsoever of him the said Hancock Hatcher off in and to the said premises and all deeds evidince
and writings, touching or in any wise concerning the same. To have and to hold the land hereby
conveyed & all & singular other the premises hereby bargained and sold and every part thereof
with thier and every of their appertenances unto the said Daniel Hicks his heirs and assigns
forever, to the only proper use & behoof of him the said Daniel Hicks and of his heirs and
assigns forever and the said Hancock Hatcher for himself his heirs executors and administrators
doth covenant promise & agree to and with the said Daniel Hicks heirs and assigns by these
presents that the said Hancock Hatcher now at the time of sealing and delivering these presents
is seized of a good and perfect and indefeasible estate of inheritance in fee simple of and in
the premises hereby bargained and sold and that he has good power and lawful & absolute authority
to grant & convey the same, the said Daniel Hicks in manner and form aforesaid, and that the
said premises now are and do forever hereafter shall remain and be free & clear of & from all
former gifts grants bargains taxes dower right & title of dower judgements executions titles
troubles charges and incumbrances whatsoever, made done committed of suffered by the said
Hatcher his heirs & succussors or any other person or persons whatsoever and that the said
Hancock Hatcher and his heirs all and singular the premises hereby bargained & sold with the
with the appertenances to the said Daniel Hicks heirs & assigns against him the said Hancock
Hatcher and his heirs and all and every person or persons whatsoever shall warrant & forever
defend by these presents. In witness whereof the said Hancock Hatcher hath hereunto set his
hand & seal the day and year first above written.
