Deed: Handcock (Hancock) Hatcher to Matthew Johnston.
Dated:6 February 1779.
Trans.: 1000 pounds for 200 acres "On the marsh branch
on the West side of Stewarts Creek." Land was granted to Joseph Williams by
patent in 1762. Matthew Johnston, his heirs, etc. were to "Observe the
perishable aracts (sic) and hereby alowed to me moveable that is to say One
half of a mill that was Built by Joseph Williams Existed Consisting as
Follows House Stons Running Gear Miles peck measure with Sundries Irons to
Belonging."
