(Transcribed by Joan S Dunn) Book E Page 378, & 379 Griffith Houston To William Hubbard Deed 100 acres This Indentrue made this Sixth day of February in the year of our Lord Christ one Thousand seven Hundred and Eighty nine and in Fourteenth year of American Independence between Griffity Houston of the one part and William Hubbard of the other both of the County of Duplin and State of North Carolina. Witnesseth that the said Griffity Houston doth for and in Consideration of the sum of Eighty Pounds to me in hand paid the Receipt whereof I do Acknowledge my self to be fully satisfied Contented and paid thereof I do acquit him the said William Hubbard his heirs and assigns forever. A certain Tract or parcel of Land being and lying in the County aforesaid being part the Soracte Survey Patened by Mr. Henry McCulloh Patent bearing date the third of March 1745. And Thence it was granted to William Houston by an act of General Assembly in May 1780. Reference being had may more fully appear. Beginning at a Stake on the River bank Edward Hustons upper Corner thence Runing So. 46 degrees Et. With Edward Houstons Line a cross the main Road to a large marked pine in the Sovannah and then a Direct line to the New River pond where it May strike his other line and then to the Run No. 46 degrees Wt. with his line to a maple and ashe on the River bank and then down the various Courses of the River to the Beginning it containing one Hundred acres be the same more or less. To have and to hold the aforesaid Land and premioses with all the appartainces thereunto Belonging to the said William Hubbard his heirs Executors administrators or assigns forever with out any Interruption of me the said Griffith Houston my Executors administrators or assigns which Land I do warrant and forever Defend from any person or persons Laying any Lawfull Title or Claim to the aforesaid Land and premises. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and fixt My Seal the day and year first above written. Signed sealed and Delivered In the presence of us. Griffith Houston James Hubbard Elizabeth Houston State of No. Carolina Duplin County July Term 1791 Then was the within Deed proved in open Court by the oath of James Hubbard and ordered to be Registered.
