This Indenture, made This thirtieth day of December in the twentyfirst year of American
Independence and in the year of our Lord Christ One thousand seven hundred and ninety
five Believeth George Williams of the State of N Carolina and County of Duplin of the one
part and Archabald Carr of the same place of the other part and Witnesseth that the said
George Williams for Divers good causes and considerations him thereunto convey but more
especially for the valuable consideration of the sum of Twenty pounds to him in hand well
and truly paid at leisure or to be paid by Archabald Carr aforesaid before the ensealing of

these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath by these presents given
granted bargained and sold to the said Archabald Carr his heirs and assigns forever that
tract or parcel of land situated lying and being in the county of Duplin aforesaid on the No
side of the Grove Swamp and on South side of the Gum Swamp being part of a survey of land
patented by the said George Williams of two hundred and Twenty five acres in the year one
thousand seven hundred and seventy five and the said land is bounded as follows—Beginning
at a pine Carlsing Smith’s corner which which stands between the Grove Swamp and Gum
Swamp in the line of the said two hundred and Seventy five and survey and running thence
No 25 Wt and of the Green Swamp to a pine by a pond thence So 65 Wt 130 poles to a bay in
the edge of Green Swamp Carlsing Smiths corner thence with the said Carlsing Smiths line to
the first station containing in the whole by estimation one hundred and thirty seven acres be
the same more or less being part of aforesaid of two hundred and seventy five acres of land
patented by him the said George Williams—To have and To hold the aforesaid land and premises
with all the appurtenances to the same belonging or in everywise appertaining to him the said
Archabald Carr his heirs and assigns forever free from all encumbrances whatsoever given granted
or done by him the said George Williams and the said George Williams the aforesaid land and
premises to him The said Archabald Carr his heirs and assigns shall and will warrant and forever
defend from and against him the said Geroge Williams as also from and against the just and lawful
claim of all and person or persons whatsoever who may hereof to lay any lawful claim to the same
and the said Archabald Carr the aforesaid lands and premises shall and may hold use occupy
enjoy and possess as his own free and lawful inheritance free from all encumbrances whatsoever in
Witness whereof the said Geroge Williams has hereunto set his
