George Smith To William Smith
Deed for 250 acres lands
This indenture made this twenty first day of March & in the year of our Lord Christ one
thousand seven hundred & eighty six, it being the tenth year of our Independence. Between
George Smith of the County of Duplin and State of No. Carolina planter of the one part and
William Smith of the County and State aforesaid young man of the other part. Witnesseth,
that I the said George Smith do for and in consideration of the sum of fifty pounds specie
to me in hand paid befor the ensealing and delivery of these presents, the receipt whereof
I do hereby acknowledge myself freely satisfied and every part and parcel thereof doth
hereby acquit and discharge the said Wm. Smith his heirs and assigns forever, and hath given
granted bargained & sold & by these presents doth freely & absolutely give grant bargain
sell and confirm unto the said William Smith his heirs & assigns forever, a tract or parcel
of land containing by estimation two hundred and fifty acres be the same more or less lying
& being in the County of Duplin on the Et. side of the No. Et. on the head of Burncoat and
joining Dobbs County & at the head of the Tuckaho it being part of five hundred acres patend
by said George Smith patent bearing date the first day of July 1779, of which Robert Evy had
party joining both sides of Cowhole branch, the said divided by a row of marked trees almost
cornering the said land. Begining at a pine by a pond that drains into Tuckaho thence Wt.
170 poles to a pine, thence No. crossing Burncoar tot he next branch, thence up the said
branch to the head where the marked trees comes, thence along the marked trees to the far
corner next to Dobbs thence along the giving line to the begining, the said William Smith To
have and to hold the above bargained land and premises with all the appurtenances thereunto
belonging or in any wise appurtaining, to him the said William Smith his heirs and assigns
forever to his & their only proper use benefit and behoofe & I the said George Smith for me
my heirs executors administrators do covenant & agree to and with the said William Smith his
heirs &a ssings that they may and from time to time & at all times hereafter by for or of
these presents peacebly & quietly have hold occupie possess & enjoy the above bargained land
and premises freely & clearly against the lawfull claim of me my heirs executors administrators.
