(Transcribed by Joan S Dunn) Deed Book 1 A Page 316, 317, & 318 George Smith To Michael Glisson Deed for 100 acres lands This indenture made twenty third day of March in the year of our Lord Christ one thousand seven hundred and eighty six, it being the tenth year of our Independence. Between George Smith of the County od Duplin and State of North Carolina planter of the one part and Michael Glisson of the County & State aforesaid planter, of the other part. Witnesseth, that I the said George Smith do for and in consideration of the sum of twenty five pounds current money of the State of North Carolina to me in hand paid before the ensealing & delivery of these presents by the said Michael Glisson, the receipt whereof I do hereby acknowledge myself fully satisfied & paid & of every part & parcel thereof doth acquit & discharge him the said Michael Glisson his heirs & assigns forever & have given granted bargained & sold & by these presents doth freely & absolutely give grant bargain sell & confirm unto the said Michael Glisson his heirs & assigns forever a tract or parcel of land containing one hundred acres lying & being in the County of Duplin on the Et. side of the No. East & on the north side of Mathews Branch & the wolf pit Branch joining Durham Leigh's & Silvanns Pumfrey's line. Begining at a stake & runs So. 40 po to a black jack thence SO. Eighty five Wt. 60 pole to a red oad Pumphrey's corner by the branch, thence along his line So. 75 Wt. 140 poles to Leigh's corner, thence No. 10 Wt. 130 pole, thence to the begining, patent bearing date the 18th of September 1771, patend by Durham Leigh taken by execution on the account of Elisha Blacksher and sold by the high Sheriff of Duplin County Theophilus Williams to the highest bider, the said Michael Glisson. To have and to hold the above bargained land and premises without any interuption of him the said George Smith his heirs executors administrators or any other assigns but that he may from time to time & at all times hereafter have hold use occupie & enjoy each & singular every part and parcel thereof, to his own proper use benefit & behoofe & furthermore I the said George Smith do for myself my heirs executors warrant & forever defend the above bargained land & premises unto the said Michael Glisson his heirs & assigns forever in as full and ample a monner as my deed from the Sheriff invests one with all previledges tot he same belonging or in any wise appertaining. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and fixed my seal the day and date above written. George Smith Signed Sealed & delivered in the presence of us.
