George Smith & Wife To John Worley Deed 26 September 1790

(Transcribed by Joan S Dunn) Deed Book E Page 131, 132, 133, & 134 George Smith & Wife To John Worley Deed 2 Tracts of Land This Indenture made the twety sixth day of September in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety. Between George Smith and Nancy Smith his wife both of Duplin County and State of North Carolina of the one part and John Worley of Dobbs County and State aforesaid of the other part Witnesseth that we the said George Smith and Nancy Smith his wife for and In consideration of the sum of one Hundred and fifty pounds specie To us in hand the Receipt whereof we the said George Smith and Nancy his wife doth hereby acknowledge ourselves therewith fully satisfied Contented and paid and of Every part and parcel thereof. Doth Exonerate acquit and discharge the said John Worley his heirs or assigns forever Have given granted bargained sold aliened set over and confirmed two certain Tracts or parcels of Land situate in Duplin County on the East side of the No. East River on both sides of Panther swamp above Richard Prescots land. Begining at a pine on the No. Side of the swamp and runs So. 180 poles to a Blackjack thence Wt. 180 poles to a pine thence No. 180 pole to a pine thence to the Begining it being a tract of Land granted to George Smith Senior for two hundred acres of Land by Patten bearing Date the first day of September 1766. Including the plantation and improvements whereon the said George Smith now lives on as by Record doth appear all the said Tract or parcel of Land situate in Duplin County Containing three hundred acres between the head of Panther swamp and Beaverdam of Tuckahoe. Begining at a blackjack near the head of the Beaverdam by the old Burncoat path & thence No. 120 pole to a small pine thence Wt. 260 pole to a blackjack his own corner thence with his own Line No. 36 poles to a black jack thence Wt. 86 poles to a pine on Richard Prescots Line thence with his line So. 160 pole to a stake thence Et. 340 poles to a pine thence to the begining containing three hundred acres it being a Tract of Land granted to the said George Smith by Paten bearing Date the twenty fifty day of Febryart 1785 as by Record doth appear. To have and to hold the said granted and Bargainede two tracts of Land and premises and every part and parcel thereof with all and singular the appertainances therewith belonging or in any wise appertaining with all Revertion and revertions rents and servises therein and thereon contained free and freely clear and cleary from all Incumberance whatsoever to him the said John Worley his heirs or assigns forever to his and their only proper use benefit and behoofe and furthermore will the said George Smith and Nancy Smith his wife Do promise and agree to and with the John Worley his heirs and assigns forever that before the Ensealing and Delivery of these presents we are the True Soles and Lawfull owners of the above granted and Bargained Two Tracts of Land and premises and have in ourselves good Right full power and lawfull authority to sell and Dispose of the same in manner as above said the said granted and bargained two tracts and parcels of Land against us and our selves & against all and every other person or persons claining from or under us there to the said John Worley his heirs or assigns forever will warrant and forever Defend. In Witness whereof we have hereunto set our hand and afixt our seals the day and year above written. Signed sealed and Delivered George Smith In the presence of us Ann Smith William Hubbard Lewis Barfield State of North Carolina Duplin County January Term 1791 Then was the within Deed proved in open Courty by the oath of Lewis Barfield and oredered to be registered.
