George Outlaw To Levin Watkins
Deed for 125 acres lands
This indenture made this sixteenth day of December in the year of our Lord
one thousand seven hundred & eighty five, between George Outlaw of the County of
Duplin & State of No. Carolina of the one part, & Levin Watkins of the County &
State aforesaid of the other part. Witnesseth, that the said George Outlaw for and
in consideration of the sum of eighty five pounds specie to the said George Outlaw
in hand paid by the said Levin Watkins before the sealing & delivering of these
presents, the receipt whereof he doth hereby acknowledge, and therefore doth release
acquit & discharge the said Levin Watkins his heirs executors administrators and
assigns by these presents hath given granted bargained sold aliend and confirmed &
by these presents doth give grant bargain sell alien & confirm unto the said Levin
Watkins & his heirs a certain piece or parcel of land sittuate lying & being in the
County of Duplin & State of No. Carolina on the north side of Goshen Swamp & on the
east side of Cowhole Brancfh, buted and bounded as followeth. Begining at a pine a
corner tree near Cowhole, the tree that is in Vining's patent & runing across Cowhole
as the line runs to an oak near Blanshard's corner thence up Cowhole along his line
to against the mouth of the Scantting Branch to a white oak, thence across Cowhole
to the scantling Branch, thence up the said Branch to a water oak by the road, thence
with the road to a pine a corner tree in vinings line, thence with a line of marked
trees to the first station, containing by estimation one hundred and twenty five
acres be the same more or less, with all houses buildings orchards gardens ways waters
& water courses, profits commodities heriditaments & appurtenances whatsoever to the
said premises hereby granted, or any part thereof belonging or in any wise appertaining,
& the reversion & reversions rent issues & profits thereof, & also all estate right
title claim & demand of him the said George Outlaw of in & to the said premises. To
have and to hold the said land hereby conveyed & all and singular other the premises
hereby bargained & sold & every part and parcel thereof with their and every of their
appurtenances to the said Levin Watkins his heirs and assigns forever, and the said
George Outlaw for himselfr his heirs executors & asministrators doth covenant promise
& grant to & with the said Levin Watkins his heirs & assigns by these present, that
the said George Outlaw now at the sealing and delivery of these presents, is seized
of a good sure perfect & indefeazable estate of inheritance in fee simple of and in
the premises hereby bargained & sold and that he has full power & lawfull authority
to grant and convey the same to the said Levin Watkins in manner aforsaid, and that
the said premises now is and so forever shall remain free and clear from all manner
of gifts grants bargains sails dowers & right of dowers, judgments executions, titles
troubles charges and encumbrances whatsoever made done or suffered by the said George
Outlaw or any other person or persons whatsoever, the taxes that may hereafter become
due on the same only excepted, and that the said George Outlaw and his heirs all and
singular the premises hereby bargained and sold, with the appurtenances un to the said
Levin Watkins his heirs & assigns against him the said George Outlaw his heirs and
all and every person or persons whatsoever, shall warrant and forever defend by these
presents. In witness whereof he the said George Outlaw hath hereunto set his hand &
seal the day & date above written.

Then was the within deed proved in open Court by the oath of Francis Oliver & ordered
