George Norris To William Gulley
This Indenture made the Eighteenth day of November in the year of our Lord Chrits one
thousand seven Hundred & eighty nine. Between George Norris of the District of Camden
in the State of South Carolina planter of the one part and William Gulley of the County
of Duplin in the State of North Carolina Planter of the other part witnesseth that for
and in consideration of the sum of Two Hundred pounds specie to the said George Noris
in hand paid by the said William Gulley of us before the sealing and Delivery of these
presents the receipt whereof he doth hereby acknowledge and there fore doth release acquit
and discharge the said Gulley his heirs Executors and administrators by these Presents
he the said George Norris hath granted bargained, sold, aliened, conveyed and confirmed
and by these presents doth grant bargain sell alien convey & confirm unto the said William
Gulley and his heirs a certain piece or parcel of land lying and being in the County of
Duplin in the State of North Carolina aforesaid on the North side of Goshen Swamp being
the lowest end of Moses Taylers old Survey and being part of the land where said William
Gulley now lives on and begining at a black gum on the run Indices branch above the fork
being the dividing corner between said William Gulley & Mark Rogers and runs Thence So
36 Wt 160 poles to a stake in said Gulleys field, thence up the swamp along said Norrises
line No. 30 Wt. 250 poles to a white oak and gum on the run of Indices branch, thence up
the said run as it Meanders to the begining and containing in the whole Two hundred and
fifteen acres and all Houses Buildings orchards, ways, waters, water courses, profits,
commodities Herittaments, and appertainances whatsoever to the said premises is hereby
granted, or any part or parcel thereof belonging or in any wise appurtaining; and the
reversion and reversions remainder and remainders rents, issues and profits thereof, and
also all the Estate Right TItle Inrerest, use, Trust, Property, Claim and Demand whatsoever
of him the said George Norris of in and to the said premises it being the lower part of a
Tract of six hundred acres which was granted to Moses Tyler by Patent bearing Date the
third day of December 1746 and since conveyed by a Deed of bargain and sale from the said
Moses Tyler to Thomas Costellaw and afterwards by the said Thomas Costellaw conveyed by a
Deed of gift to his son William Costellaw, and by the said William Costellaw, to the said
George Norris by a Deed of Bargain and sale bearing date the fourth day of August 1789.
Reference being thereunto had may more fully appear, and now by the said George Norris by
these Presents conveyed to the said William Gulley. To have and hold the Lands hereby
conveyed and all and singular other the premises hereby bargained and sold,l and of every
part and parcel thereof with their and every of their appurtainances unto the said William
Gulley and his heirs and assigns forever and the said George Norris for himself, his heirs,
Executors & administrators, doth Covenant promise and grant to and with the said William
Gulley his heirs and assigns by these presents that the said George Norris now at the time
of sealing and Delivering these presents is seized of a good sure perfect and indefeasable
Estate of Inheritance in Fee simple of and the premises hereby bargainde and sold and that
he has good power and Lawfull authority to grant and convey the same to the said William
Gulley in a manner and from aforesaid, and that the said premises now are and soforever
hereafter shall remain and be free and clear of and from all former or other gifts, grants,
Bargains, sales, Dower Right and Title of Dower, Judgments, Executions, Titles or Troubles,
charges and Incumberances whatsoever made done committed of sufered, by the said George
Norris or any other person or persons whatsoever the Rents and Taxes thereon now due and
hereafter becoming due and payable to the state only excepted and that the said George
Norris and his heirs all and singular the premises is hereby Bargained and sold with the
appertainances unto the said George Norris and his Heirs and all and every person or persons
whatsoever shall and will warrant and forever Defend by these presents. In witness whereof
the George Norris by Patent Norris his Attorney hath hereunto set his hand and affixed his
seal the day and Date first above written.

Then was the within Deed proved in open Court by the oath of Daniel Glisson and ordered
to be registered. Test W. Dickson C. C.
Be it remembered that Patrick Norris by virtue of a Power of Attorney under the hand and
seal of the within named George Norris (which is duely proved in this County before
THeophilus William one of the Justices of the of the Peace for this County and Duely
Registered in the Registers office) did the day of the Date hereof affix the seal and
sign the Name of the said George Norris to the within Deed and Deliver the same to the
said William Gulley as the act and Deed of the within Named George Norris in the Presence
of us the subscribing witnesses.
