George Frazar To John Beck
Deed for 1767 acres lands
This indenture made the fifteenth day of April in the year of our Lord one
thousand and eighty eight. Between George Frazar of the County of Duplin in the State
of No. Carolina of the one part, & John Beck junr. of the County of Wayne & State of
No. Carolina on the other part witnesseth, that for and in consideration of the sum of
two thousand pounds current money of the State of North Carolina to the said John Beck
before the sealing & delivery of these presents, the receipt whereof he doth hereby
acknowledge & therefore doth release acquit and discharge the said John Beck his executors
and administrators by these presents, he the said George Frazar hath granted bargained
sold aliened and confirmed and by these presents doth grant bargain sell alien & confirm
unto the said John Beck and his heirs a certain piece or parcel of land and plantation
lying & being in Duplin County aforesaid on the upper side of the head of panther swamp.
Begining at a stake standing on the run of said swamp now in Sampson County the corner
of another survey, runing thence crossing swamp and a branch No. 39 Wt. 82 poles to a
pine, thence crossing the branch again No. 54 Et. 48 pole to a black jack, thence No. 46
Wt. 106 poles to a white oak, thence No. 7 Wt. 80 poles to a pine, thence No. 8 Et. 80
poles to a pine, thence No. 45 Et. 60 poles to a pine, thence South 61 Et. 180 poles to
a pine, thence South 10 Et. 60 poles to a black oak thence So. 21 Wt. 104 poles to a gum
on the run of Panther swamp just at the mouth of Persommon branch thence up the various
courses of the swamp to the first station containing in the whole four hundred & twenty
five acres be the same more or less, also one other tract or parcel of land lying and
being in Duplin County & State of North Carolina aforesaid on the south side of Goshen
Swamp & on the west side of Panther swamp & on both side of a small branh called the Camp
branch. Begining at a maple & a gum in the side of Goshen swamp about a quarter of a mile
above the mouth of Panther swamp, being the lower corner of another survey and runs along
the line of said survey No. 85 Wt. 170 poles to a small hickory, thence South 40 Wt. 60
pole to a stake, thence No. 65 Wt. 60 poles to a white oak, thence South 63 Wt. 22 poles
to a small black oak near the head of Camp Branch, thence So. 35 Et. 110 poles to a black
jack on Hillory Hooks line, thence along his line Et. 90 poles to a pine, thence No. 75
Et. 70 poles to a poplar, thence So. 75 Et. 64 poles to a white oak on the run of Panther
swamp, Hillory Hooks lower corner, thence down the said run as it meanders along Henry
Faison's Boundary to a black gum in Goshen Swamp at the mouth of Panther said Faison's
corner, thence up the run of Goshen to a water oak on the side thereof thence South 55 Wt.
12 pole to a red oak, thence No. 35 WT. 32 poles to a white oak, thence No. 64 Et. 6 poles
to a maple and gum on the side of a small run, thence up the same to the begining
containing in the whole four hundred acres be the same more or less, it being a tract of
land formerly the property of Henry E. McCulloch & sold by the Sheriff in virtin of a writ
of Fieri Facias against the estate of the said Henry E. McCulloch & purchases by the said
Frazar & conveyed to him by a Sheriffs deed bearing date the thirtieth day of July Anno
Domini 1782, refencee being thereunto had may more fully appear, & also one other tract of
land lying & being in the County of Samson on the heads of Panther Branches above Young's
old road joining the Bear Pocoson. Begining at a small pine by a pond & runs thence East
180 poles to a small white oak and red oak by a branch on Thomas Gray's line, thence along
his line South 10 Wt. 76 poles to a small pine be a pocoson, thence his other line South 50
Et. 156 poles to a white oak George Frazar's own corner, thence along his line So. 46 Et.
106 pole to a black oak his corner, thence South 54 Wt. 48 pole to a pine his corner, thence
with Felix Kenan's line South 50 Wt. 150 poles to a pine his corner, thence West 280 poles,
& thence to the begining, containing in the whole six hundred & forty acres be the same more
or less, it being the contents of a patent granted to Nathan King bearing dat the fourth day
of March in the year of our Lord 1775, & was conveyed by a deed of sale from the said Nathan
King to the said George Frazar, reference being thereunto had may more fully appear, & also
one other piece or parcel of land lying and being in the County of Duplin aforesaid on the
south side of the main branch of Panther. Begining at a small white oak by the run of the
said branch, a little below said Frazer's own corner & runs thence So. 85 Wt. 50 poles to a
white oak and pine, thence South 75 Wt. 37 poles to a small red oak, thence So. 60 Wt. 20 pole
to a white oak sapling, thence So. 10 West 18 poles to a small pine, thence So. 20 Et. 18 poles
to a pine, thence South 10 Wt. 10 poles to a large pine, thence South 50 Wt.. 14 pole to a
small white oak & red oak saplin, thence No. 50 Wt. 16 poles to a sweet gum in the run of
Panther Branch, & thence down the run as it meanders to the begining, & containing in the whole
nine acres, be the same more or less, it being a part of a marsh land sold & conveyed by John
Clarke to the said George Frazar reference being had may more fully appear &c. and also one
other tract or parcel of land lying & being in the County of Sampson on the south side of
Goshen Swamp on the heads of small branches leading into Panther on the north side & on both
side of Young's old path. Begining at a white oak George Frazar's corner tree & runs thus
along said Frazar's line No. 7 Wt. 80 pole to a pine his corner, thence along his other line
No. 8 Et. 80 pole to a black oak his corner, thence No. 45 Et. 104 poles to a pine his corner,
thence No. 60 Wt. 180 poles to a large pine near Felix Kenans line then near or joining Kenan's
land South 10 Wt. 180 poles to a pine on the south side of a Branch of Panther, thence the
same course continued 60 pole to a stake, thence a straight line to the begining & containing
in the whole 200 acres be the same more or less, it being the contents of a patent granted to
Thomas Gray bearing date the 22nd day of July 1774, & conveyed by a deed of sale from the said
Thomas Gray to the said George Frazar, reference being had may more fully and at large appear,
& also one other tract or parcel of land lying and being in the said County of Duplin on the
south side of Goshen Swamp & on the north side of Panther swamp on the head of Camp Branch.
Begining at a small pine said Frazar's own corner, & runs along his own line So. 10 Et 62 poles
to a black oak his other corner thence along Hillary Hooks's line No. 72 Et. 160 poles to a
black oak his corner, thence along Mr. McCulloch's line No. 35 Wt. 120 pole to a black oak his
corner, thence along John Beck's line So. 63 Wt. 150 poles to a black jack and pine, on said
Frazar's own line, thence along his own line So. 60 Et. 46 pole to the begining, & containing
in the whole ninety three acres be the same more or less, it being the contents of a patent
granted to the said George Frazar, bearing date the 15th day of December in the year of our
Lord 1778, reference being thereunto had may more fully & at large appear &c. all which said
tracts of parcels of land, as above bounded & discribed contains in the whole one thousand seven
hundred and sixty seven acres lying in the Counties of Duplin & Sampson be the same more or less,
and all houses buildings orchards ways waters & water courses profits commodities hereditaments
& appurtenances whatsoever to the said premises hereby granted or any part thereof belonging or
in any wise appertaining & the reversion & reversions remainder and remainders rents issues &
profits thereof, and also all the estate right title interest use trust property claim and demand
whatsoever of him the said George Frazar of in and to the said premises & all deeds evidences
and writings touching or in any wise concerning the same. To have and to hold the lands hereby
bargained & sold & every part thereof, with their & every of their appurtenances to the only
proper use and behoof of him the said John Beck & of his heirs and assigns forever, & the said
George Frazar for himself his heirs eecutors & administrators doth covenant promise & grant to
& with the said John Beck his heirs and assigns by these presents, that the said George Frazar
nor at the time of sealing & delivering these presents is seized of a good sure perfect and
indefeazable estate of inheritance in fee simple of and in the premises hereby bargained & sold
& that he has good power and lawfull absolute authority to grant & convey the same to the said
John Beck in manner & form aforesaid and that the said premises now are and so forever hereafter
shall remain & be free and clear off and from all former gifts grants bargains sales dower right
& title of dower judgments executions titles troubels charges & incumbrances whatsoever made done
committed or suffered by the said George Frazar or any other person or persons whatsoever (the
taxes thereon hereafter becoming due only excepted & fore prized) and that the said George Frazar
& his heirs all and singular the premises hereby bargained & sold with the appurtenances to the
said John Beck his heirs & assigns, against him the said George Frazar & his heirs and all and
every person or persons whatsoever, shall warrant & forever defend by these presents. In witness
whereof the said George Frazar hath hereunto set his hand and seal the day and year first above
written.
