George Cooper To John Cooper
Deed for 250 acres lands
This indenture made the twentieth day of February, in the year of our Lord one
thousand seven hundred & eighty seven, Between George Cooper of Duplin County and State
of No. Carolina of the one part, & John Cooper of the same County & State aforesaid of
the other part. Witnesseth that the said George Cooper for and in consideration of the
natural love and affection which he hath & beareth unto the said John Cooper his son,
& for divers other causes him thereunto moving, hath given granted alienate & confirmed
& by these presents doth give unto the said John Cooper, his heirs & assigns a certain
messuage or tenement of land lying & being in Duplin County on the south side of a
Branch called Nahunga being part of a tract of land the said George Cooper bought of
William Hall containing by estimation two hundred and fifty acreds be the same more or
less & buted & bounded as follows. Begining on Nahunga swamp at the mouth of a small
branch, which said Branch divides George Coopers plantation & the above mentioned land
sold to John Cooper runing up the said Branch near a south course to the head of said
Branch from thence to a small pond from thence to the main road at a pine of race paths
thence along the road to the back line, being the line of a tract of land that William
Hall sold to George Cooper, thenjce along the said line a So. 57 Et. course to a bunch
of bay trees in a branch called the mirey branch at Christopher Martin's corner, thence
down the various courses of branch to the mouth, thence up the various courses of
Nahunga swamp to the first station, with all woods waters & water courses with all
profits and advantages hereditaments & appurtenances whatsoever to said messuage or
tenement of land & premises abve mentioned, with every part and parcel thereof unto the
said John Cooper his heirs & assigns, to the only proper use and behoofe of him the said
John Cooper his heirs & assigns forever, and the said George Cooper for himself his heirs
executors administrators, doth covenant & promise to and with the said John Cooper his
heirs & assigns that shall and may from henceforth & forever hereafter peacebly & quietly
have hold occupie & enjoy the above mentioned land and premises, the publick dues which
shall hereafter become due only excepted, freely & clearly discharged from me the said
George Cooper my heirs exrs. administrators or assigns. In witness whereof I have
hereunto set my hand & fixed my seal the day & year above written.
