Deed for 97 acres lands This indenture made the nineteenth day of August in the eleventh year of American Independence, & in the year of our Lord Christ one thousand seven hundred & eighty six, Between George Cooper Senr. of the State of No. Carolina & County of Duplin of the one part, George Cooper junr. of the same of the other part. Witnesseth, that the said George Cooper Senr. for divers good causes and considerations him thereunto moving but more especially for the valluable consideration of the sum of thirty pounds current money of the State aforesaid to him in hand well and truly paid or secured to be paid by George Cooper jun. before the ensealing & delivery hereof, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, hath by these presents given granted bargained sold assigned & set over to the said George Cooper junr. his heirs & assigns forever the following tract or parcel of land sittuate lying & being in the County & State aforesaid on the south side of Nahunga Swamp lying in the fork of a Branch that make outs of said swamp by the upper end of John B. Sheppard's old field, being part of a gerantityof land purchased by said George Cooper junr. from Wm. Hall. Begining at the fork of a Branch where the two runs meets & runs up the branch by various courses with Richard Cooper's line nearly South 45 Et. 84 pole to a maple his corner, thence So. 15 Et. along said Cooper's other line seventy poles to a pine, thence the patent line Et. 56 poles to a black jack the corner, thence the paten line No. 45 Et. 50 poles to a large pine, thence No. 20 Wt. 106 poles to a water oak in the edge of a pond & branch by various courses down to the first station containing in the whole ninety seven acres be the same more or less. To have & to hold the aforesaid land & premises with all the appurtenances to the same belonging or in any wise appertaining of every nature or kind whatever free from all incumbrance whatever given granted or done by him the said George Cooper senr. or any other person or persons whatever by from or under him or them or any of them & the said George Cooper junr. the aforesaid land and premsies shall and may have hold use occupie enjoy & possess as his own free and lawfull inheritance free from all incumbrance whatever excepted the yearly taxes as they may hereafter become due & the said George Cooper Senr. the aforesaid ninety seven acres with the appurtenances to the same belonging shall and will warrant and forever defend to him the said George Cooper junr. his heirs & assigns forever, from and against him the said George Cooper senr. his heirs & assigns as also from & against the just & lawfull claims of all and every other person or persons whatever who may hereafter lay any lawfull clame to the same. In witness whereof the said George Cooper Senr. hath hereunto set his hand & seal the date above written.
