(Transcribed by Joan S Dunn) Deed Book E Page 187, 189, & 190 Fredrick Lewis To Thomas Miller & Robert Miller Deed 350 acres This Indenture made the twentieth Day of January in the Eight year of American Independence and In the year of our Lord Christ one thousand seven Hundred and Eighty four between Fredrick Lewis of the state of No. Carolina and County of Duplin of the one part and Thomas Miller and Robert Miller of the same place of the other part. Witnesseth that the said Fredrick Lewis for Divers good causes and considerations him thereunto moving but more especially for the valuable consideration of the sum of sixty pounds specie to him in hand well and truly paid or secured to be paid by the said Robert Miller aforesaid before the Ensealing and Delivery of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath by these presents given granted bargained sold assigned & set over to the said Thomas and Robert Miller hteir heirs & assigns forever the following Tracts or parcels of Land situate lying and being in the County aforesaid on the West side of Maxwell swamp in Carrs Branch above William Rigbies survey Begining at a white oak in a glade Rigbies corner thence No. 50 Wt. up the Branch 159 poles to a red oak thence No. 40 Et. 127 poles to a Lightwood tree thence So. 50 Et. 127 poles to a stake in a pond thence to the begining being the contents of a patent granted to Soloman Beesly for one Hundred acres bearing date the 25th day of July 1774 also all that other Tracts or percell of Land in the County aforesaid west side of Maxwell swamp & both sides of Carrs Branch joining the above discribed Land. Begining at a white oak by a Lightwood tree 3rd corner of said other Tract Joshua Hudgeons corner thence as his line west 180 poles to a pine his corner thence So. 200 poles to a pine thence So. 65 Et. 250 poles to a stake on Abraham Beeslys line thence along his line No. 80 poles to a pine Beeslys corner thence No. 40 Wt. 52 poles to a white oak in a glade Rigbeys old corner thence along the line of Solomon Beeslys old 100 acres North 50 Wt. 127 poles to a red oak thence the other line north 40 Et. 127 poles to the first station containing in whole two hundred and fifty acres be the saem more or less. To have and to hold the aforesaid Land and premises with all the appurtainances to the same belonging to them the said Thomas Miller and Robert Miller their Heirs and assigns forever free from all former gifts grants Mortgages Deeds wills Executions Entents and troubles whatsoever committed or Done by him the said Fredrick Lewis or any other person by from or under him the said Fredrick Lewis the aforesaid Land and premises to them the said Thomas and Robert Miller shall and will warrant and forever Defend to thim and their Heirs from and against him the said Fredrick Lewis his Heirs and assigns as also from and against the juse and Lawfull claim of all persons whatsoever who may hereafter Lay any Lawful claim to the same. In Witness whereof the said Fredrick Lewis hath hereunto set my hand and seal the Date above written Signed sealed and Delivered In the Presence of us Fredrick Lewis James Dickson Robert Williams State of No. Carolina Duplin County April Term 1791 Then was the within Deed proved in open Court by the oath of James Dickson and ordered to be Registered.
