(Transcribed by Joan S Dunn) Deed Book 1 A Page 230, 231, & 232 Frederick Rivenbark To Meshack Stallins Deed for 100 acres lands This indenture made this 24th day of April in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred & eighty four, & in the ninth year of Indeoendence, between Frederick Rivenbark of the County of Duplin and State No. Carolina of the one part & Meshack Stalins of the same place & County aforesaid of the other part. Witnesseth that the said Frederick Rivenbark for divers good causes and consideration him thereunto moving but more especially for and in consideration of the sum of thirty pounds specie to him in hand paid or secured to be paid before the sealing and delivery hereof, the receipt whereof he doth acknowledge and himself therewith to be fully satisfied & content & thereof & therefrom doth hereby acquit the aforesaid Meshack Stallins his heirs executors administrators & assigns, hath bargained sold enfeoffed conveyed and confirmed & hath by these presents for himself his heirs executors & assighs hath & doth fully freely and absolutely bargain sell enfeoffe convey & forever confirm unto the said Meshack Stallins his heirs and assigns one certain tract or parcel of land containing by estimation one hundred acres lying and being in our County of Duplin on the north side of Rockfish Creek on Perrey's branch, being the same one curveyed for John Rivenbark near or joining Benjamin Fussel's & Thomas Hill's lines. Begining at a white oak, thence No. eighty five Et. 127 poles to a small black gum in a small branch, thence So. 5 Et. 127 poles to a pine, thence So. 83 Wt. 127 poles to a pine, thence No. 5 Wt. to the begining. To have and to hold the said one hundred acres of land and premises with the appurtenances unto the said Meshack Stallins his heirs and assigns forever, was full and ample manner to all intents and pouposes as he the said Frederick Rivenbark did might or could have held the same before the making hereof, and the said Frederick Rivenbark doth hereby promise and engage for himself his heirs executors and administrators, that at the time of sealing and delivery hereof the said Frederick Rivenbark is and stands seized of the said land & premises of an indefeazable estate of inheritance in fee simple & hath in himself good and right full power and lawfull authority to grant bargain sell convey & forever confirm the said land and premises & every part & parcel thereof with their and every of their appurtenances unto the said Meshack Stallins his heirs and assigns, and that from time to time and at all times forever hereafter he the said Meshack Stallings his heirs and assigns by power and virtue hereof may and shall enter into have hold use possess and forever enjoy the said one hundred acres of land free & clear & freely & clearly acquitted discharged saved kept harmless and indemnified off and from all former or other gifts grants bargains sales infeoffments wills intails jointures dowers executions entents or incumbrances whatsoever, the quit rents which shall become due only excepted, moreover, the said Frederick Rivenbark doth for himself his executors and administrators do promise and engage that at any time at the reasonable request of him the said Meshack Stallings his heirs or assigns or at his or cost and charges in the law make or cause to be made & duly executed any further or other deed or instrument of writing for the sure making a title of the said land and premises to him the said Meshack Stallings, his heirs and assigns forever, as he the said Meshack Stallings his heirs or assigns or his or their councils learned in the law shall advise devize or require, and further more the said Frederick Rivenbark doth hereby covenant and agree for himself his heirs executors and administrators to and with the said Meshack Stallings his heirs and assigns to warrent and forever defend the title of the said one hundred acres of land to him the said Meshack Stallings his heirs or assigns free from the lawfull claim of him the said Frederick Rivenbark his heirs executors or administrators or any other person or persons whatsoever. In witness whereof the said Frederick Rivenbark hath hereunto set his hand and seal the day and year first above written. Frederick Rivenbark Signed Sealed & delivered in presence of us Shadrack Stallings William James State of North Carolina Duplin County January Court 1786.
