(Transcribed by Diane Siniard) Deed Book E Page 289, 290, & 291 Ezekiel Allen & Wife To Margaret Cox Deed 50 acres This Indenture made this 14th of May in the year of our Lord one thousand seven Hundred and ninety one. Between Ezekiel Allen of the Coutny of Duplin and state of North Carolina of the one part and Margaret Cox of the same County and State beforesaid. Witnesseth that the said Ezekiel Allen for and in consideration of the sum of Fifty pounds to him in hand paid before the sealing and Delivery hereof the Receipt whereof he doth hereby acknowledge and himself therewith to be fully satisfied and contented and paid and from thence doth hereby acquit the aforesaid Margaret Cox her heirs Executors administrators and assigns hath bargained, sold Enfeoffed conveyed and confirmed and hath by these presents for herself her heirs Executors administrators hath and doth fully freely and Absolutely bargain sell Enfeofe convey forever and confirm unto the said Margaret Cox her heirs and assigns fifty acres of Land it lying and being on the west side of the north East River about the mouth of Marsfield Creek opposite Joseph Wilsons Land Begining at a small black gum on the River Bank and from said Gwin Running up the River for complyment of fifty acres of said Tract of Land acres said Tract agreeable to contain the complyment to have and To hold the said fifty acres of Land and premises with the appurtainments unto the said Margaret Cox her heris and assigns in as full and ample manner to all intents and purposes as he the said Ezekiel Allen did might or could have hold the same before the making hereof and the said Ezekiel Allen doth hereby promise and Engage for himself his heirs Excrs. administrators that at the time of and Delivering hereof that he the said Ezekiel Allen is and stands seized of the Land and premises of an indefezible Estate of Inheritance free simple and hath in himself good Rightfull power and Lawfull Authority to grant Bargain sell convey and forever confirm the said Land and premises and Every part and premises and Every part and parcel of with their and Every of their appurtainments rangunto the said Margaret Cox her heirs and that from time to time and at all times forever hereafter she the said Margaret Cox her heirs and assigns by power and virtue hereof may and shall enter into have hold use occupy possess and forever enjoy the said fifty acres of Land free and clear and freely and clearly acquited Dishcarged saved kept harmless and indamnified of and from all former gifts grants bargains sails infeofents wills retailments jointers dowerments Executions Extents and Incumbrances whatsoever moreover the said Ezekiel Allen doth for himself his heirs Executors administrators do promise and engage that at any time hereafter the reasonable request of the Margaret Cox her heirs or assigns or at his or their cost or charges in the Law make or Cause to be made and duly Executed any further or other deed or instrument of writing for the same making a good and Lawfull Title of the said fifty acres of Land and premises to her the said Margaret Cox her heirs and assigns forever as she the said Margaret Cox her heirs or assigns or his or their Council learned in the Law shall be advised Devised or Required and further more the said Exiel Allen doth hereby covenant and agree for himself his heirs executors and administrators. To and with the said Margaret Cox her heirs and assigns to warrant and forever Defend the Title of the said fifty acres of Land to her the said Margaret Cox her heirs or assigns free from the Claim of him the said Ezekiel Allen his heirs Excrs. administrator or assigns or any other person or persons whatsoever laying any Lawfull Claim thereunto. In witness whereof the said Ezekiel Allen hath hereunto set his hand and seal the day and year first above mentioned.
