Enoch Alderman agent To Joab Johnston

State of North Carolina Duplin County 

This Indenture made the 23 day of October one Thousand Eight Hundred and thirty nine 
between Enoch Alderman of said State and County agent or Attorney for Isaac N Alderman 
formerly of said State and County but has remained from said State of one the part and 
Joab Johnston of said State and County of Sampson of the other part Witnesseth that the 
said Enoch Alderman who is agent or attorney for said Isaac N Alderman for and in 
consideration of the sum of five hundred and fifty dollars $ 5050 to him in hand paid 
by the said Joab Johnston the receipt where of is here by acknowledge hath bargained 
sold and confirmed and by these presents do bargain sell and confirm unto the said Joab 
Johnston a certain piece or parcel of land situated in the aforesaid County of Duplin 
on the south side of Doctor Creek between the lines of Aim Alderman and said E Alderman 
83 acres piece James Mashbern Moahel Johnston formerly Fennels begining at a persimmon 
at the run of Doctors Creek on the west side of the old foot way or crossing place Runing 
thence South 8 wt 10 poles to a stake at the edge of said Creek then So 23 Et 65 poles 
to a stake on said Enoch Alderman line of the 80 acres piece then So 69 Wt 46 poles to 
a stake then South 12 Et 18 poles to a pine thence South 63 Wt 71 poles to a pine thence 
So 10 Et 78 poles to the center of three pine said Alderman and Sers Corner thence South 
18 WSt 46 poles to a pine James Marhberns corner thence Wt 14 poles to a stake near powells 
alo corner the same cours continued 40 poles to  a stake thence Mashberns line North 122 
poles to a pine thence No 26 Et 46 poles to a pine Fennels or near Asehel Johnstons corner 
thence No 20 Et 20 poles to a pine thence No 10 Et 20 poles to a pine a fork fine Fennels 
or now Johnstons corner thence No 86 Et 66 poles to a pine in the Doctors Creek thence 
crossing So Creek.  North 30 Et 9 poles to a sasfras Fennels corner thence No 73 Et 40 poles 
to a gum in said Creek on the north side thence the nearest way cross to the run thence 
down the run to the begining containing two hundred and twenty three 223 acres be the same 
more or less which tract or parcil of land with all the Improvements prevelidge and appertenance 
there unto belonging also containing with in the above fixed boundrees twenty acres of Land 
willed to the said E Alderman by his father the said Enoch Alderman himself his executors 
administrators and assigns also the said Enoch Alderman as Atorney or agent for the said 
Isaac N Alderman himself his hirs Executors administrators and assigns dot here by warrent 
and defend aft all persons claims or demands what ever unto the said Joab Johnson his heirs 
and assigns forever in testimony whereof he the said Enoch Alderman as for him self as being 
atorney or agent for said Isaac N Alderman hath here unto set his hand and seal the day and 
date above written in presents of 			Enoch Alderman
