Enoch Alderman To Jacob Johnston

State of North Carolina Duplin County

This Indenture made the 31st day of October in the year of our Lord one Thousand eight 
hundred & thirty nine Between Enoch Alderman of the aforesaid State and County of the 
one part and Jacob Johnston of the aforesaid State & Sampson County of the other part  
Witnesseth that the said Enoch Alderman for and in consideration of the sum of one 
hundred dollars ($100) To him in hand paid by the said Jacob Johnston the receipt Where 
of is here by acknowledge hath bargained sold and confirm and by these presents do bargain 
sell and confirm unto the said Joab Johnston a certain piece or parcel of land situated 
in the aforesaid County of Duplin on the south west side of Doctors creek begining at a 
pine at the edge of the marsh on the aforesaid creek and runing thence with Joshua Lees 
line South 68 Wt 160 poles to a pine Lees corner thence No 10 Wt 78 poles to a pine thence 
No 63 Et 71 poles to a pine thence No 12 Wt 18 to a stake thence No 69 Et 50 poles to a 
stake at the edge of the creek thence To the begining containing eighty acres ($80) Be the 
same more or Less Which Tract of parcel of land with all the improvements priveledges and 
apertinance there unto belonging the said Enoch Alderman for him self his Heirs exrs Admns 
and assigns doth here by warrent and defend aft all persons claims or demands whatsoever 
unto the said Joab Johnston his Heirs and assigns forever Intestimony whereof he hath hereunto 
set his hand and seal the day and date above written in presents of
