Elizabeth Elliot To James Wright
Deed for 300 acres of lands
This indenture made this third day of August in the eighth year of the Independance of
the State of No. Carolina and in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and eighty four
between Elizabeth Elliot of the State of North Carolina & County of Duplin of the one part, and
James Wright of the State of No. Carolina and County of Duplin of the other part. Witnesseth
that the said Elizabeth Elliot for and in consideration of the sum of twenty pounds to her the
said Elizabeth Elliot in hand, well and truly paid by the said James Wright befor the sealing
and delivery of these presents, the receipt whereof she doth hereby acknowledge and therefore
doth acuit and discharge the said James Wright his heirs executors and administrators by these
presents, she the said Elizabeth Elliot hath given granted bargained sold aliened & confirmed,
and by these presents doth give grant bargain and sell alien and confirm unto the said James
Wright and his heirs a certain piece of land sittuate lying and being in the State of No.
Caroline & County of Duplin on both sides of the main head branches of Mahunga. Begining at a
pine Felix Fredericks corner tree, runing thene Wt. 115 pole a pine joining Robert Wilkinson's
line, and thence So. 340 pole to a red oak and white oak, and from thence runing Et. 140 pole
to a pine Felix Frederick's corner, thence along the said Fredericks line No. 340 pole to the
begining, and containing in the whole three hundred and twenty acres of land be the same more
or less it being part of the contents of a patent granted to William Elliot for six hundred and
forty acres of land, bearing date the ninth day of November in the year of our Lord one thousand
seven hundred and seventy nine reference being therunto had may more fully and at large appear.
To have and to hold to him the said James Wright all and singular to the above bargained land
and premises and every part and parcel thereof together with all houses buildings orchards ways
waters and water courses profits commoities heriditaments & appertenances whatsoever to the said
premises hereby granted or any part thereof belonging or appertaining in as full and ample manner
as she the said Elizabeth Elliot by her patent for the same could enjoy, and the reversion and
reversions remainder & remainders rents issues and profits thereof and also all the estate right
title interest use trust property clame and demant whatsoever of her the said Elizabeth Elliot
of in & to the said premises, and all deed evidences & writngs touching or in any wise eoncerning
the same and the said Elizabeth Elliot for herself heirs executors and administrators doth covent
and agree to and with the said James Wright his heirs and assigns by these presents, that the
said premises now and forever hereafter shall be and remain free and clear of and from all
manner of former or other gifts grants bargains sales leases joinuins dower or right and title
of dower judgements executions titles troubles charges & incumbrances whatsoever made committed
or suffered by said Elizabeth Elliot or any other person or persons for his or by from or under
her or her heirs assigns executors or administrators or any of these the quit rents thereon now
due and the rents and taxes theron hereafter to be come due to the State only excepted. In
Witness whereof the said Elizabeth Elliot hath herunto set her hand and affixed her seal the
day andy year first above written.

Then was the within deed proved in open Court by the oath of John Newton and ordered
