(Transcribed by Keith & Myra Lanier) Deed Book E Page 336, 337, & 338 Elizabeth Edwards To John Lanier Junior Deed 150 acres The State of No. Carolina Duplin County This Indenture made this fifteenth day of April in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety one and in the fifteenth year of our Independence. Between John Lanier Junior and Elizabeth Edwards both of the said COunty and State faoresaid Witnesseth that the said Elizabeth Edwards for and in consideration of the sum of seventy pounds specie to her in hand paid by the said John Lanier the Receipt whereof she the said Elizabeth Edwards hereby acknowledge herself to be therewith fully satisfied contented and paid and every part and parcel thereof doth fully freely and absolutely acquit Exonerate and Discharge him the said John Lanier his heirs and assigns I have given granted bargained and sold and by these presents do fully freely and absolutely give grant bargain sell alienate Enfeoffe convey assign and forever make over and confirm unto him the said John Lanier his heirs and assigns a certain Tract or parcel of Land containing one hundred and fifty acres according to Paten the said Land being Patened by Obediah Edwards bearing dat July the 11th in 1780 lying and being in our County of Duplin on the East side of the No. East River of Cape fare on both sides of Halsos Swamp a branch of Cypress Creek Including a small improvement Begining at a pine East edge of a small Branch about 30 poles to the southward of Halsos Corner thence No. 70 Et. 110 pole to a stake Megees Corner thence across the swamo No. 20 Wt. 220 poles to a sweet gum and small persimmon in the Edge of a deep hole McGees Corner thence So. 70 Wt. 110 poles to a pine by a Bottom by some pondey ground thence So. 20 Et. 220 poles to the first sation. To have and to hold unto the said John Lanier his heirs and assigns forever together with all improvements appurtainances and previledges thereunto and to the only proper use benefit and behoofe of him the said John Lanier his heirs Exrs. admrs. amd assogms forever and the said Elizabeth Edwards doth for herself her heris Executors and admrs. covenant grant and agree to and with him the said John Lanier his heirs and assigns that he and they shall from time to time and at all times forever hereafter hold use occupy possess and enjoy the aforesaid bargained premises and every part and parcel thereof without the least interuption molistation or hindreance of her the said Elizabeth Edwards her heirs or assigns or any other person or persons whatsoever further that she the said Elizabeth Lanier her hiers Exers, admrs. and assigns shall and will from time to time and at all times forever hereafter make do and execute at the reasonable of him the said John Lanier his heirs or assigns all such further conveyances and asshurance in the Law for the more perfect asshuring and conveying the aforesaid Land and premises unto the said John Lanier his heirs and assigns forever as by the said John Lanier Etorney Learned in the Law shall be devised advised or required and lastly that she the said Elizabeth Edwards her heirs Executors and admrs. shall and will forever hereafter warrant and Defend the aforesaid peices of Land with the appurtainances premises and previledged thereunto belonging or any ways appurtaining unto him the said John Lanier his heirs Executors administrators and assigns against all manner of former or other gifts grants leases uses wills dowerys intails covenant mortgages judgements or other incumbrances what nature or kind soever by the said Elizabeth Edwards or any other person or persons whatsoever or whomsoever laying any Lawfull Claim thereunto or any part or parce; thereof in as full and ample a manner as any Lands are holden in this State. In witness whereof I the said Elizabeth Edwards have hereunto my hand and fixt my seal this day and year above written.
