(Transcribed by Joan S Dunn) Deed Book E Page 247 Elisha Jernagan To Jesse Jernagan Bill of Sale for Negro woman Nancy State of No. Carolina Know all men by these presents that I Elisha Jernagan of the County of Duplin have in Public dealing bargained and sold unto Jesse Jernagan of the County of Sampson a Negroe wench named Nancy. Now about sixteen years of age for the consideration of one Hundred & Twenty pounds current money which I hereby acknowledge I have recd. and do thereof acquit and discharge the said Jesse Jerngaan his Heirs, Executors & administrators forever by these presents and I do hereby promise and engage to and with the said Jesse Jernagan his Heirs or to warrant and defend the property of the said negroe wench Nancy to him the said Jesse Jernagan his heirs and assigns forever from and against the just and Lawful Claime and demand of all and every other person or persons whatsoever. In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand & seal the ----- day of April Anno Domini 1791. signed sealed & delivered in presence of Elisha Jernagan Jno. Barfield State of No. Carolina Duplin County April Term 1791 Then was the within bill of sale acknowledged in open Court and ordered to be Registd. Test W. Dickson C. C.
